Will had been standing in front of the mirror for five minutes completely zoned out of what Annabeth was saying. Although Nico was the one walking down the aisle, the girls were helping Will out as Nico was closer with the guys and Annabeth insisted that it was the least she could do for Will since he saved her life. There were many other people who could have helped him get ready as payment for saving their lives but it had to be Annabeth.
It wasn't that Will didn't like her. He loved her. The problem was that she was Annabeth: driven, determined, stern and a perfectionist. She was currently on the phone with some last minute arrangements and was pacing rather distractingly behind him. Meanwhile, Will was lost in reality dawning on him.
He was getting married.
"Will." Lou Ellen stuck her head around the door, grinning lopsidedly. "You're on soon."
Will adjusted his black tie with a music note on the end and smoothed down his gold jacket. Most people would think the note was a tribute to his father but it was really for his mother. He'd been humming one of her songs in his head to help him relax.
Lou Ellen raised an eyebrow as she noticed his typical worried face and played a hand on his shoulder.
"Happiest day of your life, remember?" she prompted. "You're in love and, no pressure, but if you mess this up then some of the most powerful demigods in the world will kill you."
"Gee, thanks."
"She's not wrong," Annabeth said, having finally got off the phone and now standing beside them. "But you're going to do great, honey. I've planned everything. All you have to do is say a few words, look pretty and suck face. You'll be fine."

Will held his breath as the song started. His friends were giving him encouraging looks and thumbs up (alongside the occasional funny face) and even Annabeth had relaxed a little. His eyes caught his mother's in the crowd. She was beaming from ear to ear and had a handkerchief ready on her lap. His dad sat next to her, looking no older than eighteen and wearing shades that went out of style at least thirty years ago but Will couldn't find it in himself to care.
And there was Nico.
He wore a black suit with a gold tie that had a bow and arrow on the end as a tribute to Bianca. His hair was carefully messy and his eyeliner was perfectly done. Nico clung to Reyna's arm as she walked him down the aisle in her finest toga and her hair in an elegant crown braid. She smiled as she left Nico at the altar and went to join Thalia.
The officiator cleared his throat.
Shaking, Will took Nico’s hands in his as the woman began to talk. He looked into nervous, loving, brown eyes and his fears disappeared. This was Nico. Nothing could ever go wrong when he was with him.
Once the officiator had finished the first part, she smiled at the boys.
"And now the vows," she said.
Will exhaled brokenly. "I'll go first. Nico, I don't believe in soulmates that can be found. I believe that soulmates are made. We felt something and we chose to persue it. We chose to be together, we chose to work hard, we chose to fall in love, we chose to spend our lives together. There were so many people we could have been happy with and yet we found our happiness with each other. I think that's better than anything that could be predetermined. So, today I'm choosing you. I choose you to be my friend, my confidante, my lover, my husband, my soulmate. And I promise that I will always choose you."
Nico sniffed and rolled his eyes." You jerk. How am I supposed to follow that?"
The guests chuckled. Will couldn't tear his eyes away from Nico but he knew his mother would be tearing up.
"Will, I can't even begin to describe you and what you mean to me. Even when we fight, it's still perfect because I'm having a lover's spat with William Solace. You put empty cereal back in the cupboard, you steal all the sheets and you force me to watch Star Wars with you on repeat. You annoy me to no end and there's something so beautiful about that. I love having someone around so much that there are those little things that bug me. Undoubtedly there are little things that bug you. I need to you to understand that I don't love you despite of whatever might be seen as flaws. I love you because of them. They're what make you you and I wouldn’t have it any other way. No matter what happens, I will always choose you too."
Tears slid down Will’s cheeks as he beamed. "Was that just your way of complaining about me?"
Nico laughed, squeezing his hands. "A little."
"Will, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do."
"Nico, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do."
"I now pronounce you husband and husband. You may kiss the groom."
As his lips met Nico’s, Will couldn't contain his grin. It felt like forever ago when they first started dating and they had all the time in the world left.
