Shipping Hell

"Nico!" Will called urgently. Nico looked up from his sketchbook. He was sitting on the sofa watching cartoons and practicing his drawing skills when he heard it.

"Nico!" Will called again. Nico got up and went through to the study where Will was supposed to be working. Instead, he found him on a shipping website.

Nico rolled his eyes, kissing his boyfriend’s head and resting his chin on top of it as he stood behind Will’s chair.

"What is it?"

"So you know they published a book series on Camp Halfblood?"

"Yes."

The book series had been out for quite a while. Nico made his first appearance years ago. The aim was to both find other demigods and to make it more plausible when they walked around in a camp t-shirt or with a weapon. People would think they were cosplaying. It also brought in money for weapons and repairs. Mainly, Nico thought, it was for Chiron's amusement. He seemed to find the whole thing funny.

"People are shipping weird stuff," Will said. Nico rolled his eyes.

"How weird can it be?"

Will bit his lip. "Perachel."

"What?"

"Percy and Rachel."

Nico pulled up a stool to sit next to his boyfriend.

"But she's the Oracle of Delphi. And aroace. And Percy has a wife."

"I know."

"They can't all be bad." Nico scrolled down to find a list of ships. "Look! Reyna and Thalia are on there and they should definitely get their act together and date."

He froze.

"Wait. Pernico?"

"What?" Will's eyes bulged. "People actually ship that?"

"It's a popular ship."

"Oh my gods. Oh my gods. No, no way. You can't... He can't... I won't just..."

"Will." Nico rested a hand on his arm. "It's just a stupid ship. Honestly, we can just take the whole thing as a joke. It'll be funny."

Will sighed. "Fine. What's next?"

"Jiper."

Will paused. "They were cute. They split up but I can see why people would be kind of sad about that."

"Frazel." Nico’s eyes lit up. "Oh that's a good one! Good to see not everything has gone to the dogs."

"They're so cute," Will agreed. "Oh, look! Solangelo! That's us! People ship us!"

Nico laughed. "Of course they ship us. We're in love."

"Well so are you and Percy apparently," Will grumbled.

"What about Traite?" Nico frowned. "Connor's brother and Katie? I mean, it would be kind of cute. I don't know Travis that well but Connor would probably ship it if only to annoy his brother."

"Thalico?" Will turned pale. "But they know you're gay!"

"Also I don't really like Thalia! She's alright I guess but she's still the one of the ones who took my sister away! And Reyna likes her! That's just gross."

"It gets worse," Will warned. "Reynico."

At this point Nico actually had to lean over to heave. Will patted him supportively on the back.

"Whoever ships that will burn in Tarturus. I'm gay and that would be like incest!"

Will took a look at the next one and choked on his own spit. Nico’s eyes widened.

"How bad is it?"

Will pointed shakily at the screen. Nico’s jaw dropped.

"You and my stepmother?"

"A lot of people are pretty that I don't want to date!" Will protested. "I mean Piper's gorgeous but I'd never date her! A sunset is beautiful but I'm not taking it out to dinner!"

"This ship is definitely your fault," Nico said.

"This ship is illegal! I'm fifteen and she's like a thousand. And my boyfriend's mother! And Hades' wife! And just no!"

"I think that's enough for today," Nico said, closing the tab. He took a slightly shaken Will’s hands and led him into their living room where they curled up on the sofa.

Nico rested his head on Will’s shoulder.

"It's okay," he said. "Because whatever other people think, I love you. They can't change that."

"But what if they're right? What if you'd be better off with someone else?"

Nico scoffed. "I'd be miserable with someone else."

Will pulled Nico closer to him.

"You aren't going to leave me for my stepmother, are you?" Nico joked. Will shuddered.

"Don't even mention it."

Hey, loves! I am planning to do a second part of this. Thank you to solangeloissocute for the idea and the provision of ships. Some are cute and some are truly horrifying. My intention is not to shame anyone for their ships but at the same time yes I am judging you. Ship whatever healthy ship you want but don't expect me to like it!

Also, I just watched Elemental and am I the only one who got a kind of Nico and Will vibe from Ember and Wade? Anyways, thanks for reading.
