Will dragged his boyfriend up the hill, their hands clasping tight as Nico staggered behind with his rucksack slung over his shoulder. The glaring sun beat down on them until they stopped to rest under the shade of the leafy branches of the tree. Nico slumped against the trunk, panting.

"Did you pack nothing to travel with for a week?" he asked incredulously. Will shrugged, leaning against the trunk too. His shoulder provided a good head resting spot.

"I don't need loads of things," he reasoned. "I've got my trusty cargo shorts, a couple of t-shirts and a kit kat. All I need in the world."

Nico snorted. "You're such a country boy."

"That a bad thing?" Will contested, nudging Nico gently. "I grew up travelling in a van. We had to pack lightly. Besides, I'll be too nervous to do much when we get there. I'm meeting your family! That's a big deal."

"It's not," Nico protested. "It's just a small stay at Camp Jupiter. It's fine."

Will shuddered. "I heard Reyna was terrifying."

Nico rolled his eyes and stood up, offering a hand to help Will off the ground. He kept holding Will’s hand even when they were both upright.

"Only one way to find out."

Nico smiled and Will winced as the shadows and enveloped them and unceremoniously dumped them at the edge of Camp Jupiter. The guards startled and raised their weapons but when they realised it was Nico they relaxed. Nico’s walking pace was fast and, despite having longer legs, Will has to quicken his pace to keep up.

"You're like a celebrity around here." Will noted the stares, whispers and gazes of admiration as they walked towards the Senate House.

Will hesitated.

"Are you sure we should be marching in here?"

"I'm the Ambassador of Pluto. I can do whatever I want."

"Try telling that to their spears," Will mumbled. He wasn't sure when Nico got his confidence. Nico wasn't sure either but he was using it entirely recklessly now so he might as well carry on.

Nico paused outside the doors. Will originally mistook it as nervousness but saw the glint in Nico’s eyes a moment later.

"Do you know what would be fun?" Nico grabbed Will’s hand and shadow travelled them to behind the senators. Nico kept a hand over Will’s mouth to stop him making a noise.

Just as one of the senators finished saying something, Nico leaned down close to his ear and loudly stated, "Well that sounds smashing, old bean!"

Everyone in the room leapt to their defence positions and Will ended up yanking Nico close to him just a millisecond before a sword sliced through the air Nico had been standing in.

"Nico! Are you trying to get yourself killed? Oh my gods! I am so sorry. We're nice people," Will tried to apologise. Nico burst out laughing.

"Gods, that was fun. Hello, Reyna!"

Reyna's mouth was on the floor.

"You look..." she stumbled for words. "Happy. Uncharacteristically happy."

Nico approched to give her a hug which she gladly but somewhat befuddledly returned.

"I just missed this place," Nico answered, reluctantly letting go of her. "And you. I brought Will though."

Will waved meekly. Reyna's sharp eyes looked him up and down briefly.

"Ah, yes. The boyfriend. Come along. Praetor Hazel wants to see you."

She looked very pointedly and Will, who gulped. Nico took his hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. Reyna made her excuses and the three left to find Hazel and Frank in the Praetorium.

Reyna knocked three times on the door. There was stifled giggling before the door opened.

"Reyna!" Hazel coughed. "Ahem, what are you doing here?"

"I brought in the strays." Reyna smiled wryly. Hazel glanced over Reyna's shoulder and her face lit up.

"Nico!"

They embraced so tightly you couldn't tell where one ended and the other began. Hazel backed away only to hug Will in the same fashion.

"I'm so happy you're here. You have so much to see."

"I'll show you around," Frank offered as he came into sight. On his cheek was a large mouth shaped lipstick marked. Hazel covered up her snort with a cough.

"Frank, you have something on your cheek," Reyna stated. Frank ducked out of view to check in the mirror. When he came back, he was bright red and the lipstick mark was gone. He handed a tube of lipstick to Hazel.

"Need a refill?"

Will glanced at Nico, looking so comfortable. This wasn't as bad as he'd thought. It was actually kind of nice. They'd have to visit more often.
