Isabelle's had to have over a month off work now, due to her condition: being over eight months pregnant and almost unable to walk.

She tried to work for as long as she could, but Charlie quickly said she couldn't. Not because she wasn't mobile, but because her job involves dealing with dragons, and it's harder to have your wits about you when you're growing another human being. Or so Charlie says. He actually did do some research on the matter after she told him — which she thought was rather cute — so he probably does know his stuff.

She now spends most of her days inside on the couch, cuddling up with the dogs and reading, or — when she can manage it — finding a nice sunny spot outside and just watching the world go by. Sometimes it's boring and she wishes she could just be able to get up and do something, but then she reminds herself that life will be crazy when the baby comes so she better enjoy herself while she can. Savour the boring days.

She doesn't know the gender — decided to keep it a surprise. While Isabelle doesn't have a preference for names, Charlie has a whole list made up, and has shared them with Isabelle countless times. Just another way that he's showing he's excited.

Just liked she planned, Elena wanted to have a baby at the same time as Isabelle, so they could grow up together as friends. As it so happens, this is almost exactly what's come in to play. Elena, however, has already given birth to a beautiful baby boy, whom they've called Henry. He's only a few weeks old now, and yet Elena is constantly bringing him over to hang out with Isabelle, the little boy joining their tea parties.

Even at just a few weeks old, Henry is showing signs of having beautiful dark hair and twinkling blue eyes. He seems to be constantly happy, giggling every time his mother moves the teacup to her lips, as though it's the funniest thing in the world. A little light in all this darkness. Isabelle knows her baby will be just the same.

Charlie's off at work at the moment, and to keep her company like usual, Elena's over with little Henry, who's bundled up against her chest, sound asleep.

"Of course he's sleeping now." Elena shakes her head, exasperated. "Don't be fooled by his pretty eyes, Issy — he's a terror."

Isabelle smirks.

"I'm serious! Especially at night! It's like I've birthed a nocturnal creature, who's more than happy to sleep like a doll during the day and in front of other people, and then the second we're at home and it's only us, he turns into a little nightmare!"

"Oh, but he looks so peaceful—"

Elena's eyes narrow and Isabelle laughs. "Don't you think I don't know exactly what you're doing here," Elena half-scolds. "Just you wait until you have one of these, you won't be so joking."

"Ah, but what if I have an angel child who sleeps through the night?" Isabelle taunts.

"Impossible." Elena shakes her head. "But if you do... don't be surprised if it goes missing—"

"Elena!"

"Oh, come on, I wouldn't dare." But her eyes are twinkling.

Isabelle can't help but heave a laugh. Her eyes widen and she stops instantly, however, as she suddenly appears to be sitting in a vast wetness. She looks up slowly to where Elena is, and the other woman picks up on it immediately.

"Oh, Merlin!" Elena exclaims. "We need to get you to a hospital — come on!"

Wincing as a contraction starts to take hold, Isabelle stays where she is, leaving Elena to hurry around towards her and help her up out of her seat. Even the dogs seem to know that something's going on, and all three of them walk in circles around the kitchen as if they're guards.
