I couldn't even begin how to think about how this man that is then crying on my shoulders. It's like how we were.Patting on his back while listening to his whimpers was like a dream come true to me. I have been wanting for a moment like this but I wanted that to be happy. Us both happy. It wasn't the thing though. He was frustrated.
"I'm sure he wanted to." I said while patting. "He's just busy. You know how Dads can be." I said as if I really understood fathers at all.
"I tried, Drey. I am so disappointed!" He pushed me then moved away a little from me.
I just stared at him. I was amazed. Not long ago, he was so hesitant to make up with his father.
I am proud of you, Liam.
"What?" He said in his usual irritative way.
"Nothing. I'm happy for you." I told him honestly.
"Weirdo."
I laughed at that before I went up. "Where are you going?"
"Tubig. I'll go fetch some water for you." I smirked at him. "You must miss me so much."
"Fuck you!"
Tumawa na lang ako habang papunta sa kusina. Just like how he was, still irritated at me for just about any reason he could find.
I went back and handed him a glass of water that he gladly drank. We were still in the island, me—of course, hiding from the rest of his family and friends. Although Liam and I had almost caught up then, I couldn't say the same for Layn. He was still angry as far I could know.
"How am I supposed to survive this?" He asked the air while gasping.
"I mean, you already are." I said honestly while not looking at him.
He sighed again that made me look at him. He seemed so troubled. And...I was getting kinda worried.
"Sa tuwing lalapit siya saakin, para akong sinasakal."
I looked at him with horror. Oh my fucking God. I remembered everything.
"Oh! No!" I guess he remembered. "Sorry. Hindi ko tinutukoy yung insidente na yun."
He was referring to the incident where I choked him hard enough for him to be hospitalized. The scene that brought us here to that moment where I was desperately waiting for them to accept my apology.
"What I mean is, kapag nasa paligid ko si Dad—pakiramdam ko eh ang bigat ng loob ko." I stared at him.
We were so different—but one thing is in common: Daddy Issues.
"I don't know much about fathers, Liam but I really think your father is trying to get closer to you." I grabbed his hand and caressed it out of nowhere.
He just stared at my hand innocently before putting it up and held it up against his nose, silently brushing it against my hand. He then closed his eyes and put his head my shoulders.
"I wish it was easy to forgive him."
"You're the most forgiving person I know." I said whilst sniffing his hair that smelled like cocoa butter and a hint of vanilla.
"It'll take time." I said before letting him rest.
It really must've been hard for him all that time. I wish I could helped him more than be his ranting buddy but it was the most I can.
Just be there for him.
"Have dinner with me." I asked him.
He immediately went up and moved a little away from me. He looked so surprised.
