Daya pulled the house door open, running upstairs. There was a can she hid. Because she was so sure Dayeon will drink the two she bought. She heaved loudly, placing her hands on her knees. Those little steps were tiring for her lazy ass. She pushed her stray hair away her face and resumed her run, opening the door. She immediately rushed to her box, setting it down horizontally, she unzipped it and found the soda pop stashed away in her box. She sighed, picking it and leaving the room. Just deciding to zip up the bag later. She crossed the road, breathing heavily and entered the shop. Felix hadn't stopped beefing with the oldies, silently. The oldies weren't silent though.
This was embrassment served to her on a domed platter as breakfast. She walked over to their table, slamming the pop down. Felix looked up from the can. She smiled, "I got you one"
Damin pulled her daughter back, her ragged breathing didn't sit well with her. "Why make my daughter work her ass off for you?"
Felix was greatly offended by that. "I did not ask her to do that"
Seolran hissed and he leaned back, into Hyunjin. "Is that how you appreciate people?"
"Daya doesn't deserve that"
"She is such an angel. Why did she have to run and get him one?"
"Dayeon would have never. Daya is kind to a fault"
"Aigoo. Our dear Daya. How does she put up studying with them?"
Daya almost snickered in immense gratitude. Her mother held her close to her by her arms as she stared down at the boys. This was her place. Her town. A place where everybody loved her and were ever ready to stand up for her. In Seoul, she had no one. That was the sad truth. All these nosey grandpas and grandmas were her family. They watched her grow and treated her like she was an egg. This wasn't their place but hers. She had a say here, but, she smiled, patting her mother's hands, "Eomma, it's okay. I had this extra one", she looked at Felix, "You can have it, if you want, sunbae"
No thanks.
He wrapped his fingers around the can. It was hot. Not hot. Warm. He poked his cheek. Jisung's and Chan's were really cold. Chilled.
"Because it came out of a refrigerator", Dayeon dissed from where she squatted, reading through him. "That's from a box. A cool box"
They all looked at her, her mom and grandma, not excluded. "Is he really being picky?", they all asked her except Daya and the boys.
Jisung pursed his lips. He forgot to tell his friends that it was like Dayeon had a superpower of reading people's minds and knowing their thoughts. He stared at his empty can in his hands.
Felix you are dead. It's really not your day.
"Yes!. He is distinguishing between the cold and hot drink", Dayeon confirmed and the eyes all turned to Felix.
"Don't drink it then!!", Seolran snapped, grabbing the can from him. Felix pulled it back. "I will drink it. It's mine anyway"
"It's not!. It's my Daya's. My granddaughter's", Seolran pulled it but the boy was not ready to let this can go to this grandma and not him, for the second time. Chan cradled his head in his hands.
What am I doing here please.
Hyunjin looked at Daya, "If it was Seungmin, I am sure you won't let this happen", the other boys all tensed up, "Am I wrong?"
Oh he was right.
Felix stared at Seolran, him getting this drink from her, being the only thing on his mind.
