Just College

Christmas break has always been the shortest of all. Sungkyunkwan students were returning to school for the new year on the 10th and that day came quicker than expected. Life went on as the students all came back to school, ready for what the year 2024 would give them.

Dayeon was elated to reunite with her friends; Hee Hayun and Han Shinyoung. There weren't many changes on the girls, except that Shinyoung's hair was completely brown now. Seolyeon was happy to room with the girls again.

School life was okay for this group of girls. The freshers; Jeong Dayeon, Han Shinyoung and Hee Hayun, went about their lectures. They still remained close friends and the only friends as most of the girls didn't want to relate with any of them. Yunseo, Hayun's boyfriend, got used to his girl's choice of friends. He became the fourth puzzle completing them and saw that they were really nice people on a closer level.

Life for Han Seolyeon; the fourth year senior, wasn't really rosy but she had Minho. Minho made sure she got back to school and participated in activities she wanted to do. His presence around her made it difficult for people to point fingers and by half of the spring semester, Seolyeon was fully settled in school. She got past her trauma with her ex-boyfriend and got saved by Minho.

However, for Minho, it was different. Seolyeon saved him, not the other way. When his friends couldn't really understand how deeply affected he was by Im Nayeon's engagement and wedding which held in the states on the 22nd of January, Han Seolyeon was there. She kept him afloat from drowning. She made him smile at the silliest things, made him want to be a better person and take responsibilities for his actions. He found himself loving her company, her smile and the most irrelevant things she did like scrunching her nose while she slept. How observant must he have been to notice that about his friend. They both stayed as friends and never saw each other's bed again. It was a healthy friendship and Chan was more than proud and supportive. He liked the man Seolyeon was making of Lee Minho.

Speaking of Chans, Bang Chan finished furnishing his home in Gangam-gu. He got a job as a music producer in one of the top entertainment industry, making his friends, parents and girlfriend proud. He worked with Jungkook and Yugyeom. Eunwoo had become a very renowned actor. The other boys in his year who he was friends with, all did things they loved and they all hanged out once in a while to break free from life for some time. And his girlfriend, Park Chaeyoung was the best haven he has had. Their relationship thrived and bloomed. It was supported by his family, the boys' families, the boys and his friends and in the coming Christmas season, they would be getting engaged. Happiness was just within their reach. Chan wanted same and wished same for his friends.

Changbin was still Changbin. He played with different girls but stopped when needed to catch up on his projects, be with his boys and sister. The life of a finalist wasn't that hard for him. He was coping excellently well. He made that final stage of the university look easy for the boys in semi-finals.

Hyunjin was still just as obsessed with getting Nari. The girl had opened up to him and dropped her guard. They were seen virtually everywhere. The students weren't really bothered by them since they still caught the pretty boy in dark corners with other girls so everyone believed him to be just friends with Yoon Nari. They spent their free time together, trying out cafes and the newest fashion shops since they had the same taste in styling their outfits and when Hyunjin wanted to get art supplies to pursue his dreams, Nari went with him. She picked everything. From the brushes to the canvases he would be painting on. Hyunjin was happy to just be by her side.

Jisung?. Not really. He did bet on Hyunjin getting the girl but he was getting worried whenever he saw the girl's eyes sparkle when she was with Hyunjin. Hyunjin too looked happy and it hurt Jisung to watch them dwell in such vanity. It would end. Nari for sure would be hurt. She was betted on but Jisung said nothing. He is not really a saint. He still fooled around with Chaewon, leading her on. Him too, wanted her in his bed so he wasn't different from his dearest best friend; Hwang Hyunjin.

Felix entered a new level in his game during the spring semester and he forgot about his promise to never sleep with a girl without a condom. He had two girls to celebrate and forgot to wear a sheath. Luck was on the pretty boy's side and he didn't get into a situation like the one with Yulhee. He still sneaks into room 506 to steal their yoghurts and spend time with the three roommates. He has such an easy life. He doesn't study, he gets girls, has fun and plays with his friends. His future is secured anyway with just his bank account's balance.

Seungmin, the kingpin of players. He still gets girls by just snapping his fingers while keeping his addiction in the dark. He has a record amongst his friends about being the most notorious in a coded way and even his friends can't deny that, all the while being the best student. Daya was stable already so he had gone back to his nonchalant way, the most he could get back, and he do always see Daya's sister around and be kind to her which her sister has no idea of. He progressed even further with Daya. The thrill was way too toxicating to give up. He was cool with both Ari and Chaeryeong. They were off his back now and his friends were relieved. They didn't want Seungmin hurting their sisters. Seungmin too, was glad it didn't get to that.

Jeongin, the maknae, still had his fill with Huh Yunjin amongst other girls while kindling the crush he has always had for Lee Ari. He never acted on it. Minho had been strictly clear last Christmas, that he wouldn't want any of the guys for his little sister. Yang Jeongin kept a reasonable emotional distance from the girl after that but was always physically there for her. He kept his grades up and didn't let the fun he always had together with his best friend; Choi Beomgyu, get in his way.

The girls were doing just fine. Yeji was yet to get over Ryujin, not when she was seeing her everyday. She tried dating a few times and gave up, focusing on getting to the final year with the remnants of her broken heart.

Lia, the soft cute girl, was emotionally there for her friend and never told another that Yeji was still not over Shin Ryujin. She nursed the girls like a mother and showed up for Daya like she had promised in her 3rd year, when it was tough for her and had fingers pointing at her, for which Daya was forever grateful.

Ryujin had no idea about the emotional torment she was causing Hwang Yeji. She still flirted with Nari at every slightest opportunity and Dayeon too. She was still that cool tomboy that Chaeryeong would go gay for.

Chaeryeong was preparing her heart and mind to send her brother off from college in the next months. She bonded with her best friend, Ari and although she had let Seungmin live, she would still jump at an opportunity to find out who he kissed that night during the autumn semester but she let peace reign instead.

Ari confirmed her suspicions but said nothing. She still laughed, joked and sat with Daya. She always let Seungmin know that she meant no harm, while being busy with keeping their secret. She spent more time with Minho and spoke twice or more with Seolyeon, because her brother was always with her. In all, she just lived through her third year in college, surrounded with family and friends.

Yuna found sophomore year to be one of the hardest but she struggled to cope and always made time for her older friends and cousin. She also helped Dayeon and her friends with issues regarding being a fresher and she totally loved being there for them as a senior.

Daya met with Seungmin more than she usually did but she didn't mind. Her and Dayeon missed her father's memorial service because Sungkyunkwan shifted the exam dates for freshers to April but their mom and grandma understood them and their father probably did too. Daya felt sort of at peace, now that Dayeon knew of what she does. She wasn't running around trying to protect her from knowing and she only realised how draining last year was for her. Dayeon supported in every way she could and always stood up for her sister's name whenever she was being dragged, all without knowing the male senior who has her at his beck and call.

Nari was getting sucked in every blessed day by Hwang Hyunjin but she made sure to keep everything with him friendly PG. She confessed to her roommate that she does enjoy his company and looks forward to seeing him the next time. Family-wise, Eunha was already 6 months gone, getting to the 7th month. Her brother was still as happy as the first time he asked the lady out and her parents were looking forward to the first grandchild of the Yoons. Nari won't say she wasn't excited for her nephew or niece. She looked forward to being an aunt and it seemed like Hyunjin shared in her excitement.

And SKKU students were just there, living life as it comes and having fun the most they could in college.
