Already?.
Daya blinked. Second day of classes, and the boys were already fighting. The news from yesterday wasn't a secret anymore, boys shared with their female friends, and soon, it spread like wild fire all through the school.
"Minho. He is one of them right?", Nari asked, taking a bite of her hamburger.
Daya put a fry into her mouth. They were in the school's cafeteria for lunch and it was the same old news going around the eating students. "Yeah. He is a senior in year four", she vaguely replied and Nari took her answer as that. "Are you done with line 20?", Daya asked, tapping her pen on the open book in front of her.
Nari glanced down at hers and shifted her eyes to Daya's. The difference was taking her out. She wasn't even anywhere near done. Daya's was full. "I am waiting to copy from you", she honestly replied, sipping her coffee.
Daya sighed, being so done. Just why were they turning in an assignment given today, today?. Only Mr Jin could do that. He was the professor for only year four but that suddenly changed, and he is taking everyone now on Korean literature.
"Daya, baby"
She looked up, smiling softly at Ryunjin bouncing over to them with her tray and hair doing same. The smile dropped a little when she saw the group behind her.
Oh gawd. Not today please.
"Hey, baby", Ryunjin greeted Nari, giving her a quick peck.
Alright.
Nari felt herself flushing up with colour as the girl sat next to her. Another girl with auburn hair, eyed them warily and took a seat too.
"Hi, unnie"
"Hi, Yuna", Daya replied, eyes on her book. It's been months since she last sat with their crew or interacted with the girl. But things were good between them.
"What are you writing?", Yunan asked, looking into her book after she sat down.
"Some classwork on Korean literature"
"Oh shit", Chaeryeong whispered. "Unnie, can I get a book and pen from you?", she asked Lia and she nodded, ruffling through her bag and offering her one. "Shouldn't you use your Korean booklet though?", Lia asked.
"No. No. It doesn't make a difference", she smoothly slid to Daya, smiling cutely and the girl offered her work and she was soon copying, and pasting.
"It matters", Ryunjin said, twirling her black noodles, "Unless it's a new book"
Chaeryeong glanced at the book Lia gave her. "It's new alright", and she was back to copying.
Daya ate her fries. She was looking for more answers to complete her work, and they were copying from her instead. Sigh.
"You should have just copied from Jeongin. He is done with his", Ari informed. Half of her friends glanced at Daya. She really didn't know when to read the room.
"Like he would ever agree to let someone copy", Ryunjin scoffed. He always wanted to bag the A's for himself. Only. She wiped her lips and looked at an awkward Nari. "Ah right", she always forgot the girl wasn't good at socialising. She wasn't the only awkward one here, she noticed. "Nari, please, let me introduce you to my friends"
Like they finally remembered the new girl in their midst, they all looked at her. Nari felt herself thinning up at the stares. She wanted Daya next to her but Ryunjin was, that was a good thing somehow.
"Everyone, meet Yoon Nari", Ryunjin clapped her hands together with a beautiful smile, "Nari, meet Yeji..", she started, pointing at the girl beside her, "Ari, Lia..", she skipped Daya with a chuckle, "Chaeryeong and Yuna"
