Dayeon smiled as she served the Chinese couple at a table. She was best at serving customers, she learnt from the best, her mom and grandma. The Chinese couple loved her immediately she switched to mandarin, speaking it fluently and asking of what they thought about Mary's diner.

"I give it a 10", the man raised his thumb and Dayeon chuckled, placing his food in front of him, "Oh thank you", she smiled. "Enjoy your meal", she bowed and the woman held her hand, putting three 50,000 bills in them and Dayeon tried really hard not to fawn. "I will definitely come back", the lady smiled, patting her hands and letting go. "Thank you", she bowed again and walked away with her tray, going back to the kitchen, she grinned sheepishly, rushing over to her sister, who worked in the kitchen instead of serving at the main restaurant.

Daya leaned back when Dayeon shoved notes in her face and it tickled her nostrils. "Can't you see I am with a knife?"

"Sorry. Look. I got tipped", Daya glanced down at the notes, eyes widening and she met her sister's eyes again. "A Chinese couple. Loved my fluent mandarin"

Daya laughed, "You did well", she looked back at the salmon she was slicing, "You would love to leave though, the head chef will be here soon and you aren't really dressed to be near the food"

Dayeon glanced around the huge space filled with other workers that were skilled in making dishes like her sister. They all worked on one thing or another. She sometimes wished she was a good cook like the other women in her family, then maybe she would have earned a place in the kitchen and made more money like her sister did. But working at the restaurant and getting tipped was the best. "Hold this real quick", she stuffed the money into her sister's apron and waved, walking out again.

Daya shook her head, slicing through the raw fish and deboning it like she had years of experience in that. Like an expert. Many people thought she studied culinary in school to which she found absurd and told the chefs and workers that she was a social science student, majoring in Liberal arts and cultural heritage. She started working in the kitchen immediately she was asked to plate a sushi on her first interview. Damin was so proud of her for taking her footsteps in the world of dishes but there was one problem.

Daya was the laziest of them all and needed motivation, a really strong one, to enter the kitchen and display her skills and rooming with somebody as Yoon Nari was just the good excuse to be as lazy as she wanted. Maybe if she got someone like Dayeon, things would have been different.

Best motivation was money.

We all need it.

9 hours after their shift, and they looked nothing like how they left their houses in the morning. The difference was so clear. Daya let Dayeon nap softly on her shoulder as they rode back home in a taxi. Daya stared blankly at the growing night. They always left for work by 9:00am and returned by 7:00pm. Sometimes, they stayed till 8:00pm, like today. Clearing and tidying the place up took long, and then clocking out. Anyone will be exhausted like a log. Daya shifted a little, and she had two more hours to stay at the convenience store down their street. Or the mere excuse of a convenience store, that a family ran down there for the people.

What's a convenience store without soda pops?.

Daya chuckled, tapping her sister as the cab pulled in front of their house. She paid and helped her sleepyhead sister out of the cab. "Thank you", she shut the door and the man zoomed off. Daya looked at Dayeon and sighed, proceeding to just drag her up the porch steps. Damin opened the door after she pressed the bell. She looked at Dayeon leaning all her weight on the other tiny girl and smacked her ass awake. "Did you drink?. Walk in on your own"
