Mia's POV:
'Just because you're dating now or whatever doesn't mean you can't wear a McLaren top from time to time, the Ferrari one is getting predictable.' Lando complained, climbing into his car and finishing his final preparations for the first practice race of the Canadian GP.The snow had been cleared from the tracks in the early hours of the morning, and the sun was melting the rest away and so racing was given the green light.
'I'll wear a Mclaren top for the race Lando if it'll keep you smiling.' I said sarcastically, laughing when he actually smiled.
'Aren't you meant to be following the f2 boys around right now?' Danny shouted from the room next door.
'You're racing right now idiot, they were earlier!' I responded.
He was right though. I was meant to be filming behind the scenes and some fun videos but I really didn't bond with them as well as I did my boys.
I had promised to meet Arthur on the Ferrari balcony during practice to talk over some video ideas and so I knew I had to say my goodbyes and get going.
'Good luck guys, I'll come down after the practice.' I said, holding my hand out for Lando to grab, before walking around and allowing Danny to give my hand a squeeze too, as it was the only thing they could do when they were sat in their car.
I avoided the urge to stop by the Ferrari garage, knowing i'd already left Arthur waiting longer than i'd have liked. That didn't stop me peeking through the door though, smiling at the sight of Charles in his car, staring forwards in silence. I knew that did not mean he was upset, it meant he was ready, and that's what Ferrari needed.
We chose to meet on the balcony so we could still watch the race, both of us still being Charles's biggest fans.
'I started to think you were gonna be a no show.' Arthur smiled, passing me my laptop he'd promised to get for me from my office.
'Im in high demand.' I joked, opening it and sitting down besides him.
'Do you know how hard it is to think of video ideas you've not done already when you post 3 a week?' Arthur asked, pulling a piece of paper and a pen from his pocket.
'You're telling me.' I laughed.
'But I have 3, and I firmly believe that these 3 are going to be the only ones we're going to need.' he said confidently.
'Hit me with them.'
'So first we have a James Corden style fill your guts or spill your guts.' He began.
I held my hand up to protest and he stopped me.
'Fans want to know as much about you as they do the boys. we can do a quick fire round so you can have at least 10 drivers in one video, and it means you don't have to eat anything bad, as they'll be interviewing each other. It'll show rivalry too, trust me.' He smiled devilishly.
'As long as you're part of this video, I want to watch you eat eyeballs knowing it was your own idea.' I said, typing it down into my notes.
'Deal. second one, bake-off.' He grinned.
'And explain to be how i'm going to find the time and the space to facilitate 22 drivers and force them all to bake cakes?' I questioned.
'Geez you mean business, but then again so do I, you say this like I've not spoken to the other racers.' he rolled his eyes, giving me change to let out a little smile.
He was really using this week to his advantage, and if I had anything to say about it I'd definitely be working with him again. Id never had a driver pitch their video ideas to me before, let alone had they been any good.
'We have two options, you can film in two groups on different days and edit it together, or only use 10-11 drivers. I think it would be even better if you put them in partners, but not their teammate.' He explained.
'You're actually a genius how do I hire you?' I asked, at this point I was genuinely serious.
'I'll give you my card at the end.' He joked.
'Your final idea?' I asked, looking out onto the track and noticing the boys beginning to finish up.
'Speed-dating.' He said simply. as if I didn't need any other explanation.
'You want ME to speed date f2 drivers? Have you met your brother? He doesn't need any more reason to hate them more than he already does.' I explained.
'We'll have a nice little set up, a table with some flowers, maybe candles, you'll have to dress up obviously snd I'll make sure you are all in suits. 3 minutes with each driver and you'll fit it in easy.' He continued as if he didn't hear me.
'Arthur.'
'You can film throughout the week and edit it together, book out a studio for a week and keep the setup the same, it'll look like it was done at the same time. Ive sent you all of the boys schedules and when they're free for each video.' He smiled, getting up and sliding the paper across the table to me.
'I like two of your ideas. I love them in fact.'
'We are doing all three, I will deal with my brother. It's not like you're actually dating them, he'll get over it i'm sure.' He said, heading to the door.
'Thats why you left that idea until last isn't it?' I laughed.
'Oh you know me too well, I'll see you tomorrow, keep me updated on what you're filming and when, its going to be a hit, trust me.' he waved, leaving me on the balcony alone.
The track was now absolutely silent, as the boys had finished practice and so I knew I should go and find Charles before he believed there to be something up. I almost always saw him before or after every single time he raced, and so I headed downstairs and into his room, where he was sitting on his bed, his physio looking over his arms.
'Is there a problem?' I asked, sitting down on the chair in the corner and checking over Charles visually myself for injuries.
I still had never fully gotten over the day he crashed. I mean, he'd had a few, but that one singular day haunted me still, and so I was always on edge when he was driving.
'He's all good, just routine.' His physio smiled, handing Charles a slip before leaving the room and leaving us alone.
'How was my brother?' Charles asked, kissing me softly on the head and then the lips.
'Troublesome as usual, but its refreshing for someone to hit me with new ideas. They're good i'm excited.' I smiled.
'He told me about your speed dating.' He said, rolling his eyes playfully.
'What did he say?'
'Mia is going to be dating 22 drivers for a video. Get over it you're an adult, she's gonna boost our channel. p.s. she might find a better driver date.'
I tried to hold back my laugh but couldn't, and soon enough Charles had joined in. His brother was so unserious and he knew it was a joke, but I could feel the overprotectiveness coming out already.
'Let me know when you're recording and i'll clear my schedule, I want to be there.' He said, deadly seriously.
'I will.'
'Arthurs gonna get himself killed one day.'
