Mias POV:
'Where did you go?' Charles said, all panicked and shaky when I made it back to the paddock, clutching me by both arms and looking me over.

'Are you serious?' I asked slowly.

'No?' He questioned.

'I was with my brother. I thought your security were going to tell you.' I responded, looking over towards them.

'Nobody told me anything, I was so worried.' He sighed, pulling me in tight and kissing the top of my head.

'Why didn't Lucas go with you?' He asked, looking around.

'I wanted a normal lunch with my brother. I told everyone to stay behind and to let you know.' I responded.

He nodded slowly, assuringly, letting me know without saying a word that his whole team would be replaced by the morning.

'If you get rid of Lucas we will have a huge problem.' I warned.

'Lucas is staying. He's about the only one who is.' He responded.

'You need to stop firing people, Charles.'

He took a seat in the garage, besides his car, looking up at me with a small grin on his face for a few seconds before looking down to fiddle with his watch.

'What?'

'Do you want to get a dog?' He asked, suddenly.

'Right now?' I asked, in disbelief.

'Yeah, I don't see why not. It'll keep you busy whilst im working, and we can make a start on our family.' He responded.

'I have work too, Charles.' I added.

'Yes but don't you think it'll be nice to sit and work with a little puppy curled up on your lap?' He asked, knowing he was winning me over.

'It really would.'

'I've got a spare few hours. There's a rescue centre down the road, are you sure this is what you want?' He asked, swivelling his keys around his finger.

'I think it's a great idea and I really am so excited. Are you sure it's what you want?' I asked him.

'I'd not mention it otherwise.' He smiled, standing up and reaching for my hand, walking with me to the car.

My heart was ready to burst at any given moment. A few months ago, out of stress and frustration, Charles would have probably punched someone at the prospect of me disappearing with my brother for lunch. But now he was actively looking for a better solution.

It made me wonder how soon he really wanted to start this family, as we were already getting a puppy.

We'd spoke so many times about the dogs we'd get when it was time for us. I'd always dreamed of a sausage dog, and Charles had always dreamed of a bigger dog, guard dog, which didn't surprise me.

We arrived and it was pretty empty, which made me sad, suddenly not wanting to choose at all because that meant only one dog would get a home.

'How am I meant to pick?' I whispered, walking in holding his hand tight.

'You'll know.' He smiled, turning to speak to the man at the front desk, who walked us through to the back, where the puppies were.

I knew what he had meant as soon as I saw them. 4 babies in different pens started to wag their tails, looking up at us, one of them being a dachshund.

'You knew there was one here?' I smiled, kneeling on the floor as instructed, watching as the puppy came bounding out of his cage towards me.

His little legs could barely carry him the distance he wanted to run, as he fell onto my lap, getting up and starting to jump again.
