After Matt reveals the supernatural world to his father, they go to the location Damon gave him and finds Tyler's body. He breaks down in tears.

"Matt!" Matt looks at his father. "There's a kid inside."

Matt goes to see that there is in fact a kid. He goes to the front door and unlocks all the sides and opens the passenger seat and finds the boy not harmed in anyway. Or so they thought when Matt touched to wake him and he started screaming in terror, like he just woke up from a nightmare. "It's ok, it's ok, kid! You're safe. You're safe."

"Dad! Where's dad!" Eli asked frantically and Matt at first didn't realize who he was talking about as he got him out of the car. And as he sets the little boy down, the kid runs to the trunk and sees his dad. He tries waking him up. Not knowing he's dead. "Daddy wake up." Matt didn't know Tyler had a son. And he looks to be no more than six years old. And if that's true, then that means this kid had just watched his dad died and he doesn't know it. "Daddy, please!"

Matt broke down in tears even more as he watched as the kid tries desperately to wake up his father, but nothing happens to him.

"DADDY!"

After that whole display, Eli was about to head to class when he saw Sheriff Donovan. He hadn't seen the man in years, and he seemed to not have changed much. He saw a picture of him and Eli's dad. On a football team.

Matt hadn't seen Eli since he was five. And he's amazed on how much he's grown. Though he never expected him to be a hybrid, much less a werewolf. And already he has few friends and enemies.

The Hybrid goes to see him and asked, "You're Matthew Donovan, right?"

"Yeah. You can call me, Matt. It's uhhh... been awhile since I've seen you. I tried to keep taps on you, but your aunt made it clear that she doesn't want you tied to anything related to Mystic Falls." Matt replied.

It's no surprise to Eli. Whenever he brought up the subject to his Aunt, she simply would say that it's not a good idea to talk about the people in Mystic Falls or the town entirely. Perhaps she thought Damon is too dangerous. Or maybe she hates him for turning off his humanity and killing without remorse. Or it's because like any werewolf at the time, she hates vampires. Either way, Eli was mostly sheltered.

"That sounds like her." Eli replied. "Still it's... good to see you." He looks at the time on his watch and knows he has to get to class. "I gotta go. Nice seeing you again." He vamps off.

Matt, Alaric, Dorian, Emma, Caroline and Bonnie are in the office discussing Eli's stay at the school. "How long has he been here?"

"A couple days maybe." Caroline responded to Matt's question.

"It must be hard for him to be here." Bonnie noted, remembering how the young Lockwood was when he lost his dad, Tyler.

"I can't really blame the kid." Dorian sympathizes with him. "After all, we both lost loved ones to a Salvatore. No offence, Caroline."

Caroline swallowed hard. "None taken."

"Speaking of, Damon is still here in Mystic Falls if I recall." Emma said, pointing out something. "I would like to evaluate Eli psychologically. To see where his mind is. Until then, we shouldn't introduce him to Damon. For all we know he still has a lot of hatred for him."

"And how long do you think that will be?" Caroline asked. "I mean, sure, Damon has done bad things as a vampire, as he had a lot of impulse issues and he still regrets what he did. But he's different now. Plus he didn't want to kill Tyler. Sybil made him do that."
