"Derek, anything?" Eli arrived in Derek's dorm. Hoping he has something that can help Josie. She and Lizzie welcomed him into this school and have both lost their one parent to certain individuals. One of them is dead. The other is living a good life.
"We're or I'm working on it, but if I make this right, we may have a chance, and all it requires is for Lizzie to win." Derek replied, making a potion. "And if you smell that, it's Sage. Sound Proof and all. And I read Josie's mind. I know what she's planning. The Merge. Ever heard of it?"
"Not much. Caroline was a bit vague about it" Eli doesn't specialize and witchcraft or rituals. That's more of Derek's expertise.
"Due to the twins being the first in line for the leadership of the coven, they are required to perform the Merge, through which their consciousness and strength would be merged together. The stronger twin survives the spell and is empowered by their magic as well as the magic of their twin. The weaker twin's consciousness and magic, however, is drained away and dies."
After hearing that, Eli is shocked to learn that this coven, The Gemini Coven even practices that. No wonder Caroline was in Europe and all over. "What are the requirements for The Merge?"
"To Begin the Merge Ritual: Both twins must perform the spell together in order to begin the ritual. It's important that both twins hold each other's hands in order to maintain a connection and the blood drawn from the two witches will merge. Additionally, in their coven's tradition, they perform the Merger after their 22nd birthday. This time frame, however, is more of a guideline than a strict requirement. As I discovered before Josie became... what she became. And the incantation is "Sanguinem desimilus! Sanguinem generis fiantus!" And then theres the Celestial Event: The power of an eclipse, a Mercury-Venus conjunction, or other celestial event, will merge both twins as one in order to channel each other's magic. The stronger twin survives and is empowered by their magic as well as the magic of their twin. And as stated, the weaker twin is drained of all their magic and dies during or after the spell has been completed."
"Well we're not gonna let that happen, are we?" Eli asked, not willing to lose one over the other.
"Don't worry, I've studied the ritual and consulted with my dad and hopefully this idea might, key word "might", work." Derek can only hope that that can save them both. "Also, I'm picking up strange magic in Mystic Falls. Though one of the two I'm sensing is well hidden, the one I'm sensing is a bit dark and familiar."
"What type of magic is he or she using?" Eli asked.
Derek tried to focus for about 30 seconds and now he knows what kind of magic is being used. "Got it. Necromancy. And I bet it's the same one that brought my mom back and..."
"Brought back my mom and dad." Eli said through gritted teeth. And already he having a flashback about seeing his dad for the first time in 11 years. And meeting his mom for the first time. If this is the same Necromancer that messed with his emotions, then he looks forward into killing him.
