July - August
Eli is at The Mystic Grill having lunch with Matt Donovan. He was on lunch break so there was time for them to chat for a bit.
Matt heard what had happened at that school, how Triad came after the kids and took away their powers. And how Eli defended them. He's still trying to wrap his head around that his best friend's son is a different kind of hybrid.
Meanwhile, Eli is getting to know his father's best friend while eating. "So my dad dated your sister? How'd that go?"
"Ummmm, it wasn't a romantic one. And my sister slept with someone else at that time and your dad was a little embarrassed because of her drug usage. That or he didn't know how to treat her right." Matt told Eli had his dad used to date his sister and while it wasn't a happy one, "but he and Caroline had great chemistry."
Eli nodded, knowing how the relationship between his dad and Caroline went. And he's gotta admit, judging from what his dad wrote about her, he's rather impressed how he helped her mom save Caroline from her own dad and how he broke his bones for her a 100 times. To break the sirebond. He knows his dad has his flaws but everyone else is flawed in their own way. He hopes that if he ends up getting a girlfriend or boyfriend, he won't treat them like how his dad treated Vicki.
"So your mom's family. Anything I should know?" Matt heard about Eli's maternal family. And while he's glad that they're aren't some crazy murderous vampires, he's a bit wary of letting yet another powerful supernatural family. Especially a Lycan Family from Italy. And he's fully aware that werewolves and vampires have been natural and sworn enemies since the tenth century, and there's no doubt in Donovan's mind that lycans hold that resentment towards vamps as well. Only they seem to be stronger than most vampires. Both in human and wolf forms. That and the last time a powerful supernatural family moved here, The Mikaelsons, it kinda went bad.
"Don't worry. Uncle Vinny assured me that he's not going to cause any problems in town. Nor is he going to harass any of the vamp students or locals. Like Caroline. And they're here to spend the summer with me and Uncle Vinny is gonna look after me until I finish college and he'll pass on the Lockwood Mansion to me. Plus, he's my maternal relative, and I'm seventeen so, he can take custody of me." Eli said after drinking his coffee. But he then noticed that some people are looking at him weirdly. "Why are some of those people looking at me?"
Matt sees them and gives them a warning lunacy to go back to what they were doing before returning to Eli's question. "Aside from Mystic Falls being a small town, word of you being The Last Lockwood has spread."
"I wonder who told them." Eli thinks it maybe one of the students. After all, his name means something in Mystic Falls. As he is a descendant of one of the Founding Families. "Maybe one of the students from The Salvatore School let it slip when.. or maybe somehow one of the kids recognized the name Lockwood when we hosted The Miss Mystic Falls Pageant, and now the towns wondering if I'll be mayor of this town." Matt frowned at Eli before he continued. "I was in the Mystic Falls Archives and I've read that the majority of Lockwood's have been mayors."
