Eli could tell it's a female. Before the full moon, before his first turn, his aunt taught him how to use his senses. Sight, taste, touch, hearing and smell. And he used it pretty well.
And he can tell this is a girl. And this is the first time since his aunt died, that he's meeting someone who can turn anytime. He would have thought that he was the only one. And normally he would not have figured who this is, as he does not recognize the scent. But he can guess who. He did learn from Derek about her during their run.
The white wolf gestured him to follow her. And he did. And as soon as they reach The Old Mill, the white wolf goes to the other side of the Mill, while Eli reverts back into his human form. Next to where he put his clothes. He first puts on his boxers and then his pants.
