"Eli told me about your little incident," Alaric told Hope as he ducked under a swing, throwing his arm forward and aiming one himself towards Hope. The tribrid narrowed her eyes a little as she dodged his attack, her eyebrows scrunching up in distaste.

"Isn't boyfriend confidentiality a thing? It should be," Hope spat back, her swings a little angrier now that she had found out Eli had gone running to Alaric about her when she was already dealing with a lot as it was.

"He's just worried about you, that's all. You'd be too if you've heard of the nightmares he's gotten." Alaric pointed out.

"He doesn't need to be! And sure, I can worry about that. But doesn't he talk to Emma?"
Alaric grunted a little as he narrowly avoided another hit from Hope, noticing how the girl was getting harder and more aggressive with each swing. He paced around her for a second, hoping that a couple of seconds pause would allow her to calm a little.

"Are you sure? It seems like you're manifesting a little stress and anxiety. My guess is, you're still dealing with the trauma of seeing Landon dead - and Eli transforming into that final form, means who knows how long he has?"

Hope gritted her teeth at that, images of a dead Landon and a barely breathing, nose-bleeding Eli flashing through her mind. Seeing Landon's neck ripped wide open and hearing Eli finally gaining that form and possibly be dying because his genetics can't handle his vampirism had set off something in her but she wasn't the type to sit and talk about feelings. "I've been through worse."

"I mean, with your family history, I just want - to make sure..."

"I SAID I'M FINE!" Hope yelled out, a wave of magic pulsing from her body and sweeping Alaric off his feet and sending him tumbling to the ground. Her eyes widened for a second as she seemed to realise what she had done, looking down at where Alaric was looking up at her with deep breaths. "Okay. I-I could stand to blow off some steam. I'm gonna... go check the woods to see if I can wolf out."

"While you're at it, maybe bring Eli." Alaric suggested.

"Are you telling me that because I need some boyfriend and girlfriend time with him or do you want me to watch him to make sure he doesn't end up having a rage moment when he sees Damon?"

Alaric sighed. "Both."

🐺🧛🏻‍♂️

Eli wondered where Derek was. He doesn't seem the type to miss something like this. He'll have to look for him.

"I have some news," Alaric announced, "Many of you, like me until this morning, have forgotten that we are hosting this year's Miss Mystic Falls Pageant. Trust me, I know. But the rotation is set in stone. So, let's take the opportunity to maintain our image as a normal school for the rich and awful. As usual, anything remotely magical, enchanted, vampire, wolf or witch-related must be kept tucked away, hidden, and under lock and key."

Grumbles spread throughout the student body at the announcement. Just like the football games they played, pretending to be normal humans in front of the other schools was emotionally exhausting. The cleanup of the school in preparation was maybe even more draining.

Eli doesn't blame how the students felt. Even during his school years (after he triggered his curse), he had to pretend that he was human. Meaning no using supernatural abilities in public. Which Lockwood rarely lets slip. Not that anyone saw him.

Just after finishing that, Eli's nose bleeds a little, and although he wipes it, it didn't go unnoticed by Hope. Which has her worrying because she was told what will happen if he unlocked that form. And Eli hasn't turned into that for some it happened.

"Now... with your chore assignments." Alaric lets Lizzie take the reins.

"Okay, so we'll split into teams."

🐺🧛🏻‍♂️

Eli was carrying the cages of two rats, having no idea where to put em. "Hey, Hope. You have any idea where these guys go?"

"Yeah, anywhere but with the birds. The ravens and the finches are fine, but the rats drive the owls crazy." Hope replied.

"Owls sure love their rodents." Eli said, setting them down. "So I've been thinking about why you've been acting so weird."

"Suddenly everyone's got a psychology degree around here." She sarcastically said.

"No, I just, I just think you have cold feet."

"About what?" Hope asked.

"Us. You know, we're good. We're finally in a solid relationship based on honesty and openness and... Landon is indestructible, and I... I've turned into that form." Hope can see how worried he is and she too is worried as she hadn't forgotten the blood she saw coming out of Eli's nose. And she wonders how He has before.... "We finally have a long, clear road ahead of us, you know, with no obstacles." But then Eli sees that Hope is looking at someone else. He follows his gaze and sees a guy. The dude has a tall stature with an athletic build and one can described him as "charming." He also has curly dirty blond hair, light skin, and hazel colored eyes. And through his scent, he's a vampire. Then Eli turns to Hope. "Who is that?"

"Um... That is Roman. My ex-boyfriend."

Eli remembered now. Roman Sienna the vampire that got Hope's mom, Hayley Marshall killed. "Oh."

Let me know on how Roman should react to Eli being a hybrid and how Eli should react to the guy that got Hope's mom killed. Sorry if this is a short chapter
