Yesterday, Elena was at work, checking on a patient before she goes on her lunch break. And so far he's fine. Poor man, fighting cancer isn't easy.
During her lunch break, Elena was visited by Derek Bennett. He met the young boy via Bonnie. Elena wasn't aware she had more family and would assume that was Bonnie's kid if the witch didn't tell her that she has at least two female cousins and two of them are dead, with only one of them leaving a son behind.

"Derek, hey. How's school?" Elena asked.
"Oh you know, it's school. How's Stefani?" Derek asked about her daughter.
"Those bullies all the sudden left her alone. I would ask, but then she told me that someone told her about a spectral hound will chase them if they didn't stop bullying." Elena eyes Derek with knowing look.
Derek merely shrugged. "Like I said, this is Mystic Falls. Strange things tend to happen. But I didn't just come here to talk about scaring bullies straight Elena. I want to test a theory on something. I need to analyze Stefani's blood for a second."
Elena frowned. Wanting to know why Derek needs her blood. It's not like Stefani is a doppelgänger. "Why do you need it? And don't even think about being vague."
"What makes you think I will?" Derek asked, wondering how would Elena know if he was going to be vague.
"I was a teenager. And let's just say keeping secrets or being vague is something I used to do. Now spill."
Derek sighs. "I want to test a theory. To see if the cure of immortality is past down to Stefani. And the reason why I'm hoping that it's in her is because..."
Elena takes his hand. "It's ok. You can tell me."
"I doubt you'll like what about to say." Derek voices his scepticism.
"Try me."
Derek sighs once more and says, "It's for Eli." Elena's smile disappeared when she heard his name. She was told that night that Eli came and tried to kill Damon. And although he spared him, Damon is making sure that his kids are on vervain. "Told you wouldn't like it. But Elena listen. We learned that Eli's mom come from a different type of werewolf. They're called Lycans. And because Tyler was a hybrid when Eli was conceived and Valeria Lupo (Eli's mom) is a Lycan, he mot only inherited his dad's Werewolf gene, as well as vampirism, but he inherited his mom's Lycan gene too. And his body was never meant to contain three species. If he turns into his final form, he'll slowly but surely begin dying."
