It had been raining for a few days now. The town of Mystic Falls grieve the loss of two souls.

The official death of Damon is cancer. While Elena's is suicide. Not that anyone would believe it, but they never questioned it out loud. But either way, it's important that they keep the truth behind their deaths.

Sitting at Matt's house, which is much better than the one he was living at.

Figured Alaric, Caroline, Bonnie, Jeremy and the kids needed space from the town. Matt was kind enough to let them and he has stocked his fridge pretty well.

Caroline watched from the window as Stefani was outside, just starring at the woods, while her brother was inside the house just sleeping. "I can't... I can't remember the last time I spoke to Elena. Or Damon. It may have been like... ten months ago maybe."

Bonnie didn't drink her bourbon yet. She was just staring at it. "I've only spoken to her five months ago." She said quietly, trying to hold it together. She lost two of her best friends. All the times she's saved them and yet this time she failed. "How did this happen?"

"We weren't equipped to beat a Lich and the guy that Zeus made into a monster. And... the kid that murdered him because of what happened 12 years ago." Alaric responded, slightly getting angry. "I should've trapped Eli in the prison world when I had the chance. There second he showed hatred or hostility towards Damon, was when I should've locked him away."

"What good would that do?" Caroline asked after turning sharply towards Ric.

"Damon would still be alive!" Alaric snaps at Caroline.

"So we should just lock up Eli, a young boy that lost his mom after he was born, who also lost his dad twice, (at the age of six. Then seventeen), who in turn lost his aunt at fourteen or fifteen, just to protect Damon?" Caroline matches his tone. She cares about Eli and she won't let the boy be blamed for Damon's death, even though he killed him. "You heard what Derek said, Ric! Eli did it because not only Lycaon would've killed Stefani, but the entire town would've been slaughtered."

"He didn't just do it to save this town, Caroline! He did it because he wanted revenge!" He sighs and shakes his head, before taking another drink. "And yeah, maybe Eli doesn't have to forgive Damon. Hell even Matt here doesn't forgive him. But at least he didn't try to kill him!"

"Maybe I should've." Matt muttered, which didn't entirely go unnoticed by the group. They all looked at Matt who didn't drink his bourbon. "You know what's funny, Ric? You didn't show that same energy when Tyler died. Even when his kid was there. You and Stefan called his death a "collateral damage." And yeah, maybe you did staked him and all, but you found someway to forgive him. After everything he did. For what he did to all of you!" He looks at Caroline. "Caroline, he fed on you, compelled you, assaulted you and somehow you forgave him for that." Looking at Bonnie. "And Bonnie, he almost killed you, he was the reason why your grams died, who also admitted that he would let you die so Elena would live, always coming to you for help, for your magic. Sure none of us would be alive if it weren't for you. But sometimes you forgive too easily." Then he stares at Jeremy. "And you, Jeremy? After murdering my sister whom you loved apparently, and killing you (even though you had the Gilbert ring on), and yet your sister ends up falling for him anyhow?" Finally he sets his eyes on Ric. "And you, Ric. How many times has Damon killed you? Or how many times you forgave him for each crime he committed against others and you? Yeah, you tried to kill him for putting your daughters in dangers, but when he came back to life and isn't under the control of Sybil, you're still friends with him?"

Of course that was waved in Alaric's face. And he tries to fire back by saying. "We get it, Matt! You hate him! That doesn't mean we all shouldn't forgive him!"

"And Eli does have to forgive Damon? Because he doesn't have to." Matt retorts with that question. "Now I'm sad and angry that Elena is gone. She was not only my ex girlfriend, but she was also my best friend. And I'm gonna miss her. We all will. But I don't have to nor will I share the sadness for Damon being dead for good. I won't. And I sure as hell won't allow you guys to blame Eli for doing what he had to. To protect the town from being overrun with lycans."

Bonnie finally speaks. But in a calmer tone. "I speak for myself. Matt I don't blame Eli. I mean I can't. I won't. Because you're right. Eli killed Damon. Not just out of revenge, but he saved Stefani and saved thousands of lives in that town."

Jeremy wished he didn't. But he had to agree. "The real monsters, the ones that are truly to blame is Lycaon and Aurelius. And I want them dead."

"So do I." Caroline can agree with that. "But how do we beat them? We're up against an old undead witch and a genocidal furry monster, both of which are five times powerful than us."

"Vincenzo is right. Lycaon is older and powerful. Combined with all the hearts of his sons, he's too strong. Eli is the only one that can kill him." Bonnie believes it. She saw it. In one of her psychic premonition, she saw two black wolves fighting it off. But on each side, a black wolf stands under the orange moon. Likely Hunters Full Moon, and another black wolf standing under a red moon. The Blood Moon.

"But how can we help him?" Asked Jeremy. "He's controlled by Lycaon, and even if he's fighting hard to break free, how's he gonna escape him?"

Bonnie remembered hearing how Eli was born on Hunter's Moon. Even for a late bloomer of a Lycan who's had that part of him bound, he's displayed such raw power. She even sensed that power when Eli confronted Damon. It burned brighter like the sun.

"I have a wired a feeling that the students at your school Ric, are planning something." Bonnie speculated to Ric, but it could also be her psychic powers. If she ever did have them.

"It's most likely Hope doing the planning. Because when it comes to a loved one of a Mikaelson, they'd do absolutely anything for them." Alaric knows this to be true, as does Caroline.

With Freya, it was Keelin.

With Finn, it was Sage.

With Elijah, it was Hayley.

With Klaus, it was Cami.

With Kol, it was Davina.

With Rebekah, it was Marcel.

And with Hope, it was Eli.

Caroline once again finds it funny. Either a cruel cosmic joke to Tyler or Klaus. Or both. Their only kids dating or loving each other would have their head spins.

But one thing is clear, Hope is not gonna rest until Eli is back with them and safe. Whatever it takes.

I know it's not much, but next chapter would have Hope planning with the others on how to save Eli
