Garrett

~~~~~~~~~~~~
I sigh as I walk through the front door of my house, my body is aching. I drop my hockey bag onto the ground before I take my shoes off.
"Taylor, I'm home!" I called out.
I don't hear anything.
I frown as I walk through the house, "Can we do taco night today? I was craving tacos during practice. It was an intense craving." I explained, hoping she could hear me.
I walk into our bedroom and see her sitting at the edge of the bed, staring into her lap.
"Tay-Tay?" I say as I walk over to her.
She looks up at me and I frown at her red puffy eyes.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
She shakes her head before she looks back down. I crouch down in front of her.
"Taylor?" I whisper as I place my hands on her knees.
She looks at me as tears run down her face.
"Why are you crying, baby?" I whisper.
She looks over at the nightstand and opens the drawer. I frown as she reaches into the drawer and pulls out a pregnancy test. I feel my heart race as she hands it to me.
I stare down at it in shock.
Positive.
I look up at her and she stares at me.
"Are you sure?" I ask.
She nods.
I run my fingers through my hair and fall down onto the floor. I stare down at the test, trying to understand what the hell was happening right now.
Tears fill my eyes as I continue to look at it.
She gets off the bed and sits down in front of me. I look at her and sigh, I put the test down and cup her face in my hands. I lean in and place a kiss on her head before I pull her to me.
I hug her tightly as she sits in my lap. We don't say a word, we just hold each other.
"I wish I could forgive him, Taylor. But it's so hard." I say as I lay my head in her lap.
She sighs as she runs her fingers through my hair.
"I know. But he wants to be a better person for you." She says.
"How do I know that? He's tried to ruin my life for years." I say, fighting back my tears.
"He's your dad, he loves you, Garrett. I know he's made mistakes in the past. We all have, but we can't hold grudges forever. You never know last night you'll see someone." She says.
I look at her and sigh.
"I love you, baby." I whisper.
"And I love you." She smiles before leaning down and kissing me.
"What are we going to do?" She finally asks.
"I have no idea." I whisper.
She sighs as she holds me tighter.
She looks up at me before she pulls away.
"Do you want to have it?" She asks.
I look at her, I look down at her stomach that had our child inside.
"Only if you want to, Tay-Tay." I say.
"Would you be upset if I wanted to keep it?" She asks.
"Of course not. I know we can do it, I believe in us." I say.
She smiles.
"Do you wanna have it?" I ask her.
She nods.
"Then let's have it." I say.
She wraps her arms around me and I hold her again.
"I'm gonna be a Dad." I say in disbelief.
She pulls away and holds my face in her hands.
"We're going to be parents." She says.
"Holy shit." I say.
"Am I dreaming?" Chris asks as he and Dakota stare at us in shock.
"No." I say.
"Pinch me." He says to Dakota.
Dakota pinches him.
"Ow!" He snaps.
"You told me to." She says.
"Not that hard." He says as he rubs his arm.
I sigh as I look at our friends.
Jake hasn't said a word, Brennen and Jules were just giving us confused looks. Lily was just finding all this very entertaining because she already knew.
"So, you guys are gonna have a baby?" Brennen asks.
"Well, she's gonna have it. I can't scientifically have it." I say.
"No shit." Taylor says.
"I'm still in shock." Jules says.
"Same." Dakota says.
"Jake?" I ask my best friend.
He looks at me and Taylor in shock.
"Dude, you're gonna be a Dad." He says.
I nod, "Yeah, I know." I say.
"Holy shit." Jake says.
I sigh, "We're still trying to figure everything out. We're gonna fly back to Boston this weekend and tell our parents." I tell him.
"What about our game?" He asks.
"I already told the coach I couldn't make it." I say.
"And he was okay with it?" He asks.
"Well, yeah. My girlfriend's pregnant." I remind him.
"Thank god I'm not playing anymore." Chris says.
"Yeah, well you're teaching people how to play hockey. So it's somewhat the same thing." Brennen says.
"Your dad is going to be pissed." Jake says.
"I know, we're finally started to mend things up between us ever since he got out. And now I'm dropping this big bomb." I sigh.
"You guys are gonna be great parents." Dakota says.
"Thanks." Taylor smiles.
"Can I be the godfather?" Chris asks.
"Can I be the godmother?" Lily asks.
"We'll see." Taylor says.
"You're kid is gonna be so cute." Jules says.
"Are you gonna make it a hockey player?" Jake asks.
"Hell yeah." I say.
"Or a doctor." Taylor says.
"That's boring." I tell her.
"Shut up." She says as she slaps my arm.
I laugh as I throw my arm around her shoulder and pull her closer to me. I didn't know if we were making the right decision but I was thankful I had so many people here to support us.
