| Sage's POV |

"I've got thirty pounds of aged beef, trays and trays of trout, mountains of prune tarts. I diced pumpkins until my hands turned orange." Sookie said. "I've got pumpkin hands!"

"Take a sip," mom said, nodding to her coffee.

"How can you stay so calm about this?" She exclaimed, looking at my mom.

"There's nothing we can do about it." Mom shrugged. "I can believe they got snowed in," Rory said. "All that work, all that extra help we hired." Mom complained. "At least they paid for it already. We didn't lose any money."

"You know, I could still make up the dinner for the four of us?" Sookie said. "Yeah, but then it would be like the four of us all alone in the dining room."

"It would be like the shinning." Mom nodded.

"Or the Texas Chainsaw Massacre," I added.

"You girls want anything besides coffee?" Luke asked, walking up to us.

Sookies head immediately turned to us. "Hey, what about Luke?" She suggested.

"What about him—"

"Hush," I told him, focusing on Sookie.

"He eats." She said, "and Jess eats. Doesn't Jess eat?"

"He eats," I confirmed.

Lule looked at me, I nodded, letting him speak. "What's she doing?" He asked mom. "I think she's inviting you for dinner."

Luke immediately sighed.

"Yeah, come on! Join us, it'll be fun! You like peacock pie?" Sookie smiled. "I'm 100% sure I don't." Luke said.

"There'll be normal food too." I assured him, also not particularly wanting to eat a pie named after a peacock.

"And decorations." Rory said.

"And music."

"Come on, it'll be fun!"

"Well—" he began, clearly unsure.

"Hey, you know what? Let's invite everyone!" Mom shrugged. My eyes grew wide, "oh god."

"Everyone who?" Sookie asked.

"Everyone everyone."

Sookie gasped, my head started to spiral. "Every everyone who?"

"Everyone we know. Everyone we like."

"And they can even stay in the Inn." Rory helped. I internally begged her to shut up. "All those empty rooms, all those uneaten pillow mints."

"An out of control, over the top slumber party!"

"I love it!"

"I hate it." I mumbled.

"Done! Spread the word." Mom told Luke. "I haven't said I'd come yet, so I'm certainly not gonna become your messenger boy."

Her face immediately dropped, morphing into a frown.

"Eight o'clock?" He asked.

"Seven."

"Right." He nodded.

Mom smiled, clapping her hands together.

"But—" he added, looking back at the curtain as Jess walked through. "I'm not sure he will."

I looked up, "oh he will."

"Hey, Jess!" I said, he looked at me. I nodded, telling him to come over. He did as I said, ignoring a person who asked for coffee.

Aw, poor Margret.

"Yeah?" He asked, I stood up, stepping closer to him.

"I have a question," I said, a smile on my face. "Oh god." He muttered.

Luke crossed him arms, watching. I felt my mom and Rory's eyes on us as well.

"So," I started, "we're doing a huge dinner thing with everyone—"

"Everyone who?"

"Everyone." I said.

"Meaning everyone everyone, or everyone?" His eyebrows creased.

"Everyone everyone. Including everyone." I clarified.

"Even everyone?"

"Unfortunately, yes."

"Damn." He whispered, I nodded.

"But," I cleared my throat. "I was wondering if you could possibly come too? Luke's going. And I know this isn't really your thing, but frankly, if I have to do this, then so do you. Meaning, by default you're kind of forced to go but I'm asking just to be nice. I also can't drag you there seeing as you're about twice the size of me. So please?"

His face immediately dropped, as he groaned. "Sage—"

I sighed, poking his chest. "Please?"

"No—"

"Please? Please, please, please, please, please, please." Each word ended with a  poke, before he eventually grabbed both my wrists, softly.

"It's not my thing." He said.

I scoffed, "it's totally not mine either, but if I am being dragged to this stupid dinner thing with everyone everyone, including everyone, and even everyone, then you are certainly coming with me."

He gave me a look, I smiled, "please? For me?"

Jess stared at me. I watched as his lips slowly turned up at the sides. I felt myself laugh as he tossed his head back.

Gotcha.

"Yeah, fine. Fine," he repeated, groaning.

"Yes!" I lifted my arms up, quickly wrapping the around his neck, before pulling away. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

His arms rested on my waist, as he rolled his eyes. "Yeah yeah, just stop looking at me like that." He scolded. "It makes me feel like I just killed a puppy."

I snorted, "that was the goal."
