Finding your part 8, Chapter 51—At General Hospital—Alan was holding Skye's hand as they sat on the couch, waiting for news about Rae. "Do you believe Rae made the right choice about having the double mastectomy?" Skye asked. "Yes, I do. Rae is going to be okay," Alan said. "Thanks, Daddy," Skye replied. "Where did you go earlier?" Alan asked. "Before Rae went into surgery, she told me I sure pick the man I love and she would support me no matter who I pick," Skye said as Lorenzo came by, and Skye looked at him. "Oh, Skye," Alan said. "Please, Daddy, support me," Skye pleaded. "I hope you're not making a mistake, but I love you," Alan said. "Will you support me?" Skye asked. "Always," Alan replied. "Thanks, Daddy," Skye said as Dr. Kelly arrived, and Skye and Alan stood up. "Is my mother okay?" Skye asked. "Yes, Rae is resting now, but she will be fine," Dr. Kelly said. "Does Rae need chemotherapy?" Skye questioned. "No, we caught all the cancer. Rae will need to rest and keep bandages on where I took the breast. She's going to need a nurse," Dr. Kelly explained. "I will take care of my mother. Can I see her?" Skye asked. "Yes," Dr. Kelly nodded. Skye approached Lorenzo, took his hand, then left to see Rae. "We need to talk," Alan said to Lorenzo. "What about?" Lorenzo asked. "My daughter. I wish Skye didn't love you. I don't regret my grandchildren, but I wish she had picked Ric over you. You just better not hurt her or my grandchildren," Alan warned. "I didn't. I get why you're overprotective of Skye. I'm the same with my daughters. I wish Lila Rae and Genevieve would pick someone else to love, but you can't stop who your child loves," Lorenzo replied. "No, you can't," Alan agreed. At Rae's room—Rae was waking up as Skye entered. "Mother," Skye said, taking Rae's hand. "Skye," Rae responded. "You're going to be fine, and when you go home, I'm coming with you to take care of you," Skye assured. "You don't need to do that," Rae said. "I want to. We missed so much time together," Skye replied. "Yes, we did. But it's going to be okay," Rae reassured. "Yes, it is. I love you," Skye said. "I love you, too," Rae responded. "You're right, it's Lorenzo I love," Skye admitted. "So, you pick him?" Rae asked. "Yes," Skye confirmed. "Good. I'm happy for you," Rae said. "Mother, do you still love John?" Skye asked. "It doesn't matter. John doesn't love me," Rae replied. "Mother, as soon as I told John about your cancer, he came here. That's love," Skye said as John entered. "Skye, right?" John asked. "Skye, can I be alone with John?" Rae inquired. "Yes," Skye agreed; she kissed her mother on the cheek and left. "John, Skye thinks you still love me," Rae said. "I do," John confirmed, taking Rae's hand. "I still love you, too," Rae said, sharing a kiss. "I'm glad Skye called me," John said. "Me too. How long can you stay?" Rae asked. "Forever. I don't have my job anymore in Llanview, so I'm free," John stated. "Good," Rae smiled; they shared another kiss. In the hallway—Skye stepped out. "Mother, how is grandmother?" Skylar asked. "Good. Thank you for being here," Skye responded. "That's what a family does," Lila Rae said as Lorenzo approached. "Yes, it is," Skye said, looking at Lorenzo. "You guys are back together, aren't you?" Lila Rae asked. Skye took Lorenzo's hand. "Yes, I choose you, Father," Skye said. "Good, Mother," Luis Jr. said. "Yes, I'm happy for both of you," Lila Rae said. "If this is what you want, Mother," Skylar said. "It is," Skye confirmed. "I need to go," Skylar said. "Me too," Lila Rae agreed. "Thanks for coming," Skye said as the children left. Lorenzo touched Skye's hair. "I'm glad Rae is okay," Lorenzo said. "Me too," Skye responded. "I'm also glad you picked me," Lorenzo added. "I'm glad you waited for me," Skye said. "You're worth the wait," Lorenzo replied. They shared a kiss as John approached. "Sorry," John apologized. "No, it's okay. Lorenzo Alcazar, this is John Sykes," Skye introduced. "Nice to meet you," Lorenzo said. "You too," John replied. "So, are you staying?" Skye asked. "Yes, I'm going to take care of your mother," John confirmed. "Really? I told Rae I could," Skye said. "Sorry, Skye, I just love her," John admitted. "I get it. I'd like to talk to my mother," Skye said. "Sure," John nodded. "I will be back," Skye said and left.
