Finding You, Genevieve, Chapter 3

At Genevieve's penthouse, she was all ready for the day. She wore a black dress with a diamond necklace and headed into the kitchen, where Bianca was already up and dressed. "I thought we could go downstairs for breakfast. I don't have much food here," Genevieve said. "I'm not that hungry," Bianca replied. "Okay, I could make you some coffee or tea," Genevieve offered. "Coffee. I like it black," Bianca said. "So do I," Genevieve replied. She poured them some coffee and looked at Bianca's hand. "We have the same hands," Genevieve said. "Yes, we do. I want answers; that's why I'm here," Bianca responded. "I know, so go ahead," Genevieve encouraged. "Were you young when you had me?" Bianca asked. "No, I wasn't a teenage mother," Genevieve answered. "Then why did you give me up?" Bianca pressed. "It's a long story," Genevieve said. "Go ahead, you owe me," Bianca insisted. "Yes, I guess I do. I come from a wealthy family—my mother's family is wealthy, and my mother owns a magazine, a fashion company, and another business. My father is in the mob. Their names are Skye and Lorenzo Alcazar. My father tried to leave the mob before I was born, and I have a twin sister," Genevieve explained. "I have an aunt," Bianca said. "Yes, and I have an older sister, Lila Rae, and a brother," Genevieve added. "How did you meet my father?" Bianca asked. "I've known your father for a long time, even before we started dating. His stepmother is my aunt. His name is Alexander. We first liked each other at a school dance—both schools would get together for those. When I danced with Alexander, I knew I was safe. He looked so much like his father—the brown eyes and Nikolas's smile," Genevieve said. "I have brown eyes," Bianca noted. "Yes, that's how I knew who you were last night; you have his eyes," Genevieve replied. "So, you two were two teenage rich kids in love?" Bianca asked. "No, it's not like that. We dated for years, even while we both went to college. We lived here, and Alexander gave me that dog, Princess. We were so happy," Genevieve said. "What happened?" Bianca asked. "We were not ready for marriage. I didn't want to get married. One day, I found out I was late and pregnant with you. Alexander insisted we get married, even though I didn't want to. But I loved him so much that we planned a big wedding. As I was walking down the aisle towards him, I looked into Alexander's eyes and knew something had changed. Alexander pulled me aside and told me he couldn't go through with it and then left," Genevieve explained. "So my father left you. That's why you gave me up? Did anyone know?" Bianca asked. "No one except my parents knew I was pregnant. I hadn't finished law school, and I didn't want to be a mother, so I gave you up," Genevieve replied. "Are you glad you did?" Bianca inquired. "Yes," Genevieve said.
