Finding You, Genevieve, Chapter 65
At Nikolas and Emily's—Nikolas was working when Alexis entered.
"Nikolas, what do you want?" Alexis asked.
"Alexis, I need your help in finding out who killed my son," Nikolas replied.
"Oh, Nikolas, I've looked over the case repeatedly, and we don't have any evidence pinpointing who killed him," Alexis said.
"When my son returned to town, he wasn't the same person. He did some things in the empire that I didn't approve of," Nikolas explained.
"Like what?" Alexis inquired.
"Alexander made some deals with Julian Jerome," Nikolas stated.
"No, this isn't good. So you think it was Julian?" Alexis asked.
"Yes, I do. I'm sure Genevieve thought so too—that's why she went after him first," Nikolas replied.
"Yes, Genevieve did think that, but we don't have any evidence," Alexis said.
"I don't care! I want to know what happened to my son!" Nikolas yelled.
"Nikolas," Alexis said.
"I'm sorry. I just wish I had saved my son before he went to the dark side," Nikolas lamented.
"I know you do. I will look into this. Nikolas, it's not your fault that Alexander is dead," Alexis reassured.
"It's just hard not to blame myself," Nikolas admitted.
"I know," Alexis said, then she left.
Nikolas poured himself a brandy and had a flashback of the last time he saw Alexander alive.
"Alexander, how could you do this to Genevieve? Trying to freeze her isn't ways to win her back," Nikolas said.
"I just want my girl back. I'm sorry I disappointed you again, Father," Alexander replied.
"Yes, you have. You will not be running the empire—that will go to Victor," Nikolas declared.
"Father, I'm the heir!" Alexander yelled.
"It's final, son," Nikolas said.
"Yes, father," Alexander responded. The flashback ended.
Nikolas picked up a picture of himself and Alexander.
At the cabin—Genevieve was sleeping in bed while Victor watched her.
"I don't regret what I did. I did it for us. I love you, Genevieve," Victor whispered to the sleeping woman.
Flashback—Victor was on the docks when he ran into Alexander.
"Great," Victor said.
"I'm glad I ran into you. Enjoy Genevieve while you can; she will never truly be yours. She loves me. I'm her prince, and soon my goddess will come back to me—her true love. You'll lose the empire and have nothing. Just go back to Switzerland," Alexander said.
"Genevieve will never go back to you. You tried to kill her! I know what you did to her at the fundraiser," Victor retorted.
"We had sex—hot sex, as always. Genevieve liked it hot in bed," Alexander boasted.
"You're the one who broke her heart when you left, and I helped pick up the pieces. It's all on you that you lost her. I will do anything to make sure Genevieve doesn't go back to you," Victor vowed and then left.
The flashback ended.
"I did what I had to do. No regrets," Victor murmured.
