Finding You, Genevieve, Chapter 25
At the police station—Lorenzo and Luis are in a cell—Skye entered. "Lorenzo, Luis, the hearing is this morning," Skye said. "Good, we'll get bail," Lorenzo replied. "I hope so," Skye responded, looking at the floor of Lorenzo's jail cell. "Did you rip that picture of our daughter, Genevieve?" Skye asked. "We don't have a daughter named Genevieve," Lorenzo said. "Lorenzo, I will not choose my daughter over you!" Skye yelled as a man approached. "Peter, can you get us bail?" Lorenzo asked. "I will try," Peter said. The officer released them, and Lorenzo approached Skye. "Skye, I love you. Please stand by me," Lorenzo pleaded. "I don't know if I can anymore," Skye replied as they left for court.
In the courtroom—Genevieve and Alexis were present. "Can you do this?" Alexis asked Genevieve, who looked up at her. Alexis had worked with her for a while after she finished law school. "Yes, I can. I will be fine," Genevieve said. "You will make a great prosecutor," Alexis said. "Thanks, I know I will too," Genevieve replied as Lorenzo, Skye, Peter, Luis, Lila Rae, Skylar, and Victor entered. "Your honor, my clients promise to stay in town if they get bail," Peter requested. "The state is asking for no bail at all—you, Your Honor. Mr. Alcazar has a lot of connections to leave town," Genevieve stated. "Your honor, Ms. Genevieve is my client's daughter and sister," Peter responded. "I know that, and I will allow Genevieve Quartermaine to take this case. No bail," the judge ruled. "Thank you, Your Honor," Genevieve said. "In the meantime, all of Mr. Lorenzo and Mr. Luis's assets will be frozen. Everything you own now goes to the state until the case is over," the judge ordered. "Your honor, where will my wife live?" Lorenzo asked. "Have you thought about that?" the judge replied. The case was dismissed for now, and Genevieve walked past Lorenzo, who touched her arm. "Are you happy about this?" Lorenzo asked. "No, I'm not happy about this. You did this all on your own," Genevieve said. "Do you even have proof?" Lorenzo asked. "Yes, I do. I've been working on it for a while," Genevieve responded. Victor approached. "Let's go now," Victor said. "I guess Victor and Bianca are all the family you need," Lorenzo said, letting go of her arm. "Genevieve has me too," Skylar added. "Skylar, you're on your sister's side?" Lorenzo questioned. "I'm on the side of the law," Skylar replied. "Stop it," Skye interrupted. "I have a case to work on," Genevieve stated. "A case you will not win," Lorenzo said. "Just watch, I will," Genevieve challenged, then left. "Oh, Lorenzo," Skye said. "Skye, I'm sorry about the house," Lorenzo apologized. "It's okay. I'll stay in the mansion for now," Skye responded. "I don't like being mad at our daughter," Lorenzo admitted. "I know," Skye acknowledged.
