Finding You, Genevieve, Chapter 31
The next day, in Genevieve's penthouse, she was putting on her dress for the day and reviewing her opening statements. "We are here to put two criminals away and keep our town safe. They were going to sell drugs—who knows, it could have been to one of your children," Genevieve said as Victor approached her. "What do you think?" Genevieve asked. "I think what I heard is good. Are you okay?" Victor replied. "Victor, stop asking me if I'm okay. I can handle this. I'm strong. I thought that's what you liked about me," Genevieve responded. "No, it's not what I like about you. It's what I love about you," Victor said, then kissed her.
"Last night was great. You were right; it was just what I needed—to spend time with you and Bianca," Genevieve admitted.
"Yes, it was," Victor agreed.
"I need to go," Genevieve said.
"I will go with you," Victor offered.
"Victor, I don't need you to put your career on hold for me," Genevieve replied.
"I know I can handle business over the phone. I want to support you," Victor insisted.
"Alright," Genevieve said as Bianca entered.
"Genevieve, I would like to go to court too," Bianca expressed.
"Are you sure?" Genevieve asked.
"Yes, you have my support in this," Bianca assured her.
"Thank you. Do you think this dress looks okay?" Genevieve asked.
"Yes, I do," Bianca confirmed.
"Yes, you look great," Victor added.
They left.
At the courthouse, Skye was holding a photo of herself, Lorenzo, and their children when Skylar and Lila Rae arrived.
"Are you both here to support your brother and father?" Skye inquired.
"I am," Lila Rae responded.
"Skylar, please. I need you to. If your father and brother go to jail, they will be killed," Skye pleaded.
"Fine, you have my support, but I won't turn my back on Genevieve. She's my twin," Skylar declared.
"I wouldn't ask you to," Skye replied as Genevieve approached with Victor and Bianca beside her.
"Genevieve," Skye greeted.
"Skye, I suggest while this is going on, you don't talk to me," Genevieve advised.
"Skye, I'm your mother. I gave birth to you, took care of you when you were sick, and love you," Skye responded.
"I need to go," Genevieve said, then she entered the courtroom with Victor and Bianca.
Skye, Skylar, and Lila Rae sat on Lorenzo and Luis Jr.'s side.
"Where is Morgan?" Skye asked.
"He had to work," Lila Rae answered.
Meanwhile, Alan, Monica, Rae, Tracy, Victor, Bianca, and Alexis were on the other side as Genevieve and everyone stood when the judge entered.
"On the charge of drug trafficking, how do you plead, Luis Alcazar Jr.?" the judge inquired.
"Not guilty, Your Honor," Luis Jr. responded.
"How do you plead, Lorenzo Alcazar?" the judge asked.
"Not guilty, Your Honor," Lorenzo replied.
"Is the state ready for the case?" the judge asked.
"Yes, Your Honor. We have all the evidence we need," Genevieve said.
"Your Honor, I would like to point out that Genevieve Alcazar is Lorenzo's daughter and Luis's sister," the lawyer mentioned.
"I am aware, and I will allow Genevieve to serve as the lawyer on this case," the judge approved.
"Thank you, Your Honor. I now have the chance to change my last name to Quartermaine," Genevieve said.
"Alright. Now, are you both ready for opening statements?" the judge asked.
"Yes, Your Honor," the lawyer and Genevieve responded, with Genevieve taking the lead.
"We are here to put two criminals away and keep our town safe. They intended to sell drugs—who knows, it could have reached your children. I love this town. I grew up here, and I want it to be a safe place for us all. Lorenzo Alcazar doesn't care about that. His son helped him move drugs into this town. You will hear about many past crimes committed by Lorenzo Alcazar. Yes, he's my father, but what he is doing is wrong and must stop. His activities have even touched me and my twin sister—when we were just born, we were kidnapped by his former mob boss, Faith Rosco, and an innocent man who tried to save us, Jasper Jacks, died because of it," Genevieve said, then approached Lorenzo and Luis at their table and looked at Lorenzo. "Lorenzo has blood on his hands, and it's not even his own. Thank you," she added, then returned to her table.
Peter turned, visibly scared of facing Genevieve.
"Jury, I hope you find both my clients innocent. This is nothing but a daughter upset with her father and trying to hurt him. My clients did not move any drugs," Peter stated.
Peter finished his case.
"That's all you have?" Lorenzo challenged.
"I'm sorry, your daughter is very convincing," Peter admitted.
"I don't care. I can't go to jail," Lorenzo replied.
