Each day unfurls without much excitement or novelty, a monotonous rhythm that only finds its exception in my friendship with Steven Meeks. He is my sole anchor, the compass that keeps me navigating the mundane sea of routine. Yet, unlike me, Meeks effortlessly shares his laughter and camaraderie with others. The only difference with his friends is that they aren't friends with the only girl at Welton.

However, on this particular day, something seemed different. Meeks and I decided to compare homework and offer assistance, making our way to his dorm room. My stolen glances at the charming boy beside me didn't go unnoticed.

Freckles adorned his face like constellations on a canvas, adding a playful and endearing quality. His round glasses perched on the bridge of his nose exuded an intellectual charm, and his cute curls of ginger hair framed a visage that seemed almost poetic in its beauty. "What?" he inquired, catching my subtle glances, his eyes gleaming with a playful understanding.

"Oh, nothing," I replied, a small smile playing on my lips. Yet, the corridors seemed to vibrate with an unfamiliar energy, as if the universe itself recognized the shift in dynamics between us, casting a spell on the otherwise mundane surroundings.

Meeks' grin widened, and with a subtle push, he adjusted his glasses, a playful glint in his eyes. "Okay, now I'm intrigued." His curiosity lingered in the air, but I simply shook my head in response. "That is for me to know and for you to find out," I teased, intertwining our hands and turning my gaze elsewhere.

Little did I know, my diversion cost me the view of a big smile and a delicate blush that painted across his adorable face. As we neared his dorm room, I mentally prepared myself for the impending wave of schoolwork.

Meeks skillfully unlocked the door, shooting me a quick glance. "Brace yourself for the realm of textbooks, Y/N. They are dangerous," he quipped, prompting a chuckle from me. "I'm ready for whatever academic challenges you throw my way," I replied, a twinkle of determination in my eyes.

However, what awaited me inside his room surpassed all expectations. As we entered, there they were—Neil, Charlie, Knox, Todd, Cameron, and Pitts—all gathered in the cozy confines of Meeks' dorm. The room buzzed with a slight banter, a camaraderie that quickly faded as their eyes landed on me. Charlie's gaze, initially fixed on my face, shifted abruptly to the interlocked hands of Meeks and me.

"Meeks, you sly dog," Charlie teased, a mischievous smirk playing on his lips. The room's attention shifted to our hands, prompting Meeks and me to hastily look down and release our interlocked grip, a palpable awkwardness settling in the air.

Meeks, clearing his throat, wore a sheepish smile. "I thought you were going to be in Neil and Todd's dorm," he admitted, the admission hanging in the room like a gentle revelation.

"We were, but Pitts had something to show us. Yet, I'm glad he did because if not, we wouldn't have stumbled upon this," Neil explained, sharing an amused look with Charlie, as if they were privy to some secret.

Meeks, regaining some composure, motioned towards the doorway. "We were planning to study in mine and Pitts' dorm, but I didn't anticipate you guys being here."

Pitts, with an unapologetic grin, chimed in, "Well, I thought it'd be a great way to break the monotony. Clearly, I was right." His words hung in the air, the unexpected convergence of friends turning what was supposed to be a routine study session into a delightful deviation from the ordinary.

"Indeed, Pitts. You've uncovered a love story hidden within the textbooks," Charlie teased, his smirk still intact. "So, who may this beautiful lady be?" Charlie continued, pointing in my direction. Meeks, if my observation was correct, shot him a subtle glare in response.
