April O'Neil bounded down the stairs of the lair, her sneakers thudding softly against the stone steps. Her heart raced with excitement as she thought about Y/N, who was working alongside Donnie on a new project. Y/N wasn't just any friend; he had a rare and genuine kindness that resonated deeply with her, and he understood her in ways few others could.
Entering the lab, she was greeted by the soft hum of machinery and the occasional clink of tools. Y/N and Donnie were engrossed in their work; the room filled with the faint scent of solder and metal. April's eyes softened as she watched Y/N, who was focused intently on a small gadget.
"Hey there, Sunshine, Donnie," she greeted, her voice gentle and affectionate.
Y/N looked up, his face brightening instantly. "Hi, April," he said, his smile warm and sincere. The nickname "Sunshine" always made him feel special, a small reminder of the light she brought into his life.
Donnie, adjusting his goggles, glanced up from his work. "Hey, April. We're just wrapping up here. Y/N has been a huge help."
April stepped closer, and curiosity piqued. "What's the project today?"
"It's a new communicator," Y/N explained, his eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "Donnie wanted something more compact and efficient, so I've been helping him refine the design."
"That sounds amazing! You always have the coolest ideas," April said, her admiration clear. "Mind if I sit in and watch?"
"Not at all," Donnie replied, gesturing to a nearby stool. "Y/N, could you pass me the microchip?"
Y/N nodded, his movements precise and confident. "Here you go."
April's gaze shifted to Y/N's favorite plush toy resting beside him—a small, well-worn bear with a single button eye. She picked it up and gave it a gentle squeeze, a playful glint in her eye. "Does Mr. Snuggles have any new adventures?" she asked, her tone light and teasing.
Y/N chuckled softly, a tender smile forming on his lips. "Not really. He's been helping me with my projects. Seems like he's a lucky charm."
April placed the bear back carefully. "Well, Mr. Snuggles is doing a great job. And so are you, by the way," she said, offering Y/N a warm, encouraging smile.
The atmosphere in the lab was comfortable and relaxed, the three of them working together in a harmonious rhythm. April sketched idly in her notebook, glancing up occasionally to admire Y/N's focused expression. There was something profoundly soothing about being in his presence—a reminder of the deep bond they shared.
Donnie finally set down his tools with a satisfied sigh. "We're nearly done here. Great job, Y/N," he said, clapping him on the back.
Y/N's face lit up with pride and gratitude. "Thanks, Donnie. It was a pleasure working on this."
