The underground base of District 13 buzzed with activity; the tension of an impending rebellion was thick in the air. Y/N was reviewing footage with the crew when she sensed a presence beside her. She glanced up and saw her—Cressida.

Sharp and focused, Cressida's gaze was locked on the screen in front of Y/N, her every movement a testament to her battle-hardened resolve. Y/N couldn't help but admire the fierce determination etched into her features.

Y/N had known Cressida for some time, having worked together on several projects. Lately, though, something between them had shifted—subtle yet unmistakable. She would catch Cressida's gaze lingering a moment too long or find her standing just a bit closer than necessary. The unspoken tension between them was undeniable, but neither had dared to confront it.

Today, however, that unspoken tension simmered just below the surface, threatening to boil over.

As Y/N adjusted the footage, trying to focus on the task at hand, Lysandra, a new member of the crew, strolled over. Tall, with an easy smile and a confident demeanor, Lysandra had quickly made herself comfortable within the group. She was friendly, charming even, and had taken an immediate interest in Y/N.

Lysandra leaned in close, her voice smooth, as she made a comment about the video. Y/N laughed lightly at her joke, feeling slightly flustered but not thinking much of it. She had always been friendly with her colleagues, after all.

"You've got a real talent for this," Lysandra said, her smile warm as she brushed a hand lightly against Y/N's arm. "I'd love to work more closely with you on future projects."

Y/N smiled politely, appreciating the compliment but feeling a bit uneasy under Lysandra's gaze. "Thanks, Lysandra. We'll see what happens."

From the corner of her eye, Y/N noticed Cressida's jaw clench, her hands gripping the edge of the table a little too tightly. Her knuckles were white, and there was a dangerous glint in her eyes—a flash of emotion that Y/N had rarely seen in her before.

Cressida cleared her throat, her voice cutting through the ambient hum of the base like a blade. "Y/N, can I speak to you for a moment? Alone."

Lysandra raised an eyebrow but took a step back, sensing the tension. "Of course," she said with a knowing smile. "I'll catch up with you later, Y/N."

As Lysandra walked away, Cressida's eyes followed her with an intensity that made the air between her and Y/N feel charged. Y/N, sensing the gravity of the situation, nodded and followed Cressida out of the room.

Cressida led Y/N to a quiet corner of the base, a stark contrast to the bustling activity of the command center. The dimly lit corridor was lined with cold, metallic walls, and the only sounds were the distant murmur of conversations and the occasional clatter of equipment. The silence in this secluded spot seemed to amplify the tension between them.

Once they were alone, Cressida turned to face Y/N, her eyes flashing with a mix of anger and something else—something deeper.

"What the hell was that?" Cressida demanded, her voice low but laced with tension. Her usually controlled demeanor was cracked, revealing the raw emotion beneath.
