Y/N stared at herself in the mirror, her gaze fixed on the stretch marks and scars that marred her skin. Her body felt heavier, as though it were weighed down by unseen burdens. Had she gained weight? She couldn't have; she had been subsisting on salads and water.
"Hey, you okay?" Stiles's voice broke through her thoughts. He walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder.
"Hm?" She leaned back into him as she felt his steady breath against her skin.
"You're staring pretty intensely at that mirror," he said softly, his voice laced with concern. "What's going on in that beautiful head of yours?"
Y/N sighed, closing her eyes. "I just... It's nothing, really, Stiles. I was just... having a staring contest with the mirror."
Stiles squeezed her gently. "A staring contest, huh? How'd it go? Did the mirror blink first?"
Y/N chuckled softly, a brief moment of relief from her swirling thoughts. "Maybe. Or maybe I did. I don't know."
Stiles turned her around to face him as he tightened his embrace with his hands gently rubbing her sides. "You know, mirrors can be tricky like that. They show us reflections, but they don't always show us the whole picture."
"I know," Y/N admitted quietly, her gaze drifting back to the mirror.
"But you know what I see when I look at you?" Stiles continued, his voice gentle but earnest. "I see someone who's beautiful, inside and out. Someone who's been through a lot but still manages to light up a room with her smile."
Y/N felt a lump form in her throat, touched by his words. "Stiles..."
He smiled softly, his eyes warm with sincerity. "I mean it, Y/N. You're so much more than what you see in that mirror."
She leaned into his embrace, feeling the steady beat of his heart against her own. "Sometimes I just... I don't feel like enough, you know?"
Stiles tilted her chin up gently, meeting her eyes with unwavering support. "You are more than enough. And you don't have to be perfect to be worthy of love and respect. You're already all of those things to me."
Y/N felt tears welling up in her eyes, overwhelmed by the depth of his understanding. "Thank you, Stiles."
He brushed away her tears with his thumb, his touch gentle and reassuring. "Anytime, Y/N. I'm here for you, through the good days and the bad."
She nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
Stiles pulled her closer, pressing a tender kiss to her forehead. "You'll never have to find out."
They stood there for a moment, wrapped in each other's embrace, the weight of Y/N's insecurities momentarily lifted by Stiles's unwavering support. In that quiet moment, she felt a renewed sense of strength and self-acceptance blossoming within her.
Stiles cupped her face in his hands, his thumbs gently wiping away the remaining tears. "You know what I love most about you?" he asked softly, his voice filled with adoration.
"What?" Y/N whispered, her heart fluttering at the intensity of his gaze.
Stiles gazed at her with tender affection, his eyes tracing the contours of her face, before he spoke softly, "Your resilience. You face your insecurities head-on, and even when you doubt yourself, you never stop trying. That strength is something I admire deeply. You always look for the best in others and give them a second chance, even if they don't deserve it."
Y/N's breath caught in her throat, touched by his words. She searched his eyes, finding solace in his unwavering support.
"The only thing I don't love," Stiles added with a playful grin, "are those pesky voices in your head telling you otherwise. And that every time we are not together, the second part of me is missing."
