The ZPD precinct buzzed with activity—an overwhelming symphony of sounds and movement that enveloped Y/N as soon as he stepped through the heavy front doors.

Phones rang incessantly, officers chattered and laughed over steaming mugs of coffee, and the distant clacking of keyboards provided a steady rhythm beneath it all. Officers of every shape and size strode confidently through the maze of desks, some with case files tucked under their arms, others barking orders or swapping quick banter with colleagues.

Y/N stood at his locker, fingers fidgeting with the edge of his newly issued badge. It was heavier than he'd expected—not physically, but with the weight of what it represented. The realization that he was now part of this world made his chest tighten with a mix of pride and nerves.

A few weeks ago, he never would've imagined himself here.

Not wearing the crisp ZPD uniform. Not with his name etched into the badge gleaming on his chest. And certainly not readying himself for his first shift with one of the department's most renowned officers—Judy Hopps.

The thought sent a shiver of anxiety through him, his fingers tugging at the cuffs of his uniform.

"Alright, rookie!"

Judy's cheerful voice snapped him out of his spiraling thoughts, and he turned just as the energetic bunny bounded up to him. Her gray-furred ears perked high, and her violet eyes sparkled with excitement. Though she was half his size, her presence filled the room with an infectious energy that seemed to chase away some of his nervousness.

"Ready for your first day as my partner?" She asked, beaming up at him.

He forced a small smile, tugging at his sleeve. "Yeah... I think so."

Judy's expression softened at the hesitation in his voice. Her ears tilted slightly, and she took a step closer, her voice dropping to a reassuring tone. "Hey, you're gonna do great. First-day jitters are totally normal. But it gets easier. And you've got me to show you the ropes." She held up her paw, a spark of encouragement in her eyes. "We've got this."

He hesitated for a moment before giving her a small fist bump. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and he felt a flicker of reassurance.

Their first stop of the day was a routine patrol through Savannah Central.

The mid-morning sun bathed the city in a golden glow, casting long shadows across the bustling streets. Predators and prey alike hurried along the sidewalks, some chatting amiably while others stared intently at their phones. The scent of freshly baked pretzels and spiced carrot dumplings wafted through the air from a nearby food cart, mingling with the distant hum of traffic.

Judy walked ahead, her ears swiveling as she scanned the area, her stride relaxed but purposeful. She seemed completely at ease, nodding to the occasional passerby who recognized her.

A trio of young otters splashed playfully in a nearby fountain, their laughter rising above the steady murmur of the street. Y/N couldn't help but smile faintly at the sight—it was moments like this that reminded him of why he joined the force.
