100. The First Songbird of The Glade - Frypan x reader (The Maze Runner)

Y/N wakes up disoriented, surrounded by towering walls that enclose the Glade, a mysterious and perilous maze. They have no memory of how they got there or who they are. Y/N soon learns that they are a "Greenie," a newcomer to the Glade, and must navigate the challenges of survival in this unforgiving environment.

As Y/N struggles to adapt to their new reality, they are assigned to work in different places in the Glade and in different types of jobs. The first job they tried was Builder, followed by Slicer, Blood Housers, Med-Jack, and Slopper. Today was their day in the kitchen with the cooks.

And as the morning sun rises over the Glade, casting long shadows across the towering walls, Y/N emerges from their sleeping quarters, ready to face another day of challenges and uncertainties. Newt, the second-in-command of the Gladers, waits for them just outside, a concerned expression etched on his face.

"Morning, Y/N," Newt greets them, his voice tinged with genuine concern. "How are you feeling today?"

Y/N offers a weak smile in return, still grappling with the disorientation of their new surroundings. "I'm... I'm alright, I guess. I'm still trying to make sense of all this."

Newt nods understandingly, his gaze flickering towards the towering maze that looms in the distance. "It takes time, Greenie. But you'll get the hang of it. Just take it one day at a time."

With a reassuring pat on the shoulder, Newt leads Y/N towards the heart of the Glade, where the sounds of clanging pots and sizzling food signal the start of another day in the kitchen. As they approach the bustling hub of activity, Y/N can't help but feel a surge of apprehension mingled with curiosity.

Carefully stepping through the doorway into the kitchen, Y/N is met with a whirlwind of sights and sounds. The air is thick with the aroma of cooking food, and Gladers bustle about, each focused on their respective tasks. Amidst the chaos stands Frypan, the leader of the kitchen crew, his aura radiating a relaxed and welcoming precense.

"Ah, looks like we've got a newbie joining us today," Frypan remarks, his voice cutting through the din of the kitchen. "Welcome to the kitchen, Greenie. I'm Frypan, head cook around here. You'll be under my wing for the day."

Y/N nods, feeling a sense of relief at Frypan's steady presence. "Thanks... Y/N. And nice to meet you."

With a nervous flutter in their stomach, Newt bids goodbye with a sweet smile, "Goodbye, love; if something troubles you, just say to Fry, and if he can't help you, I will be with the Gardeners."

As Newt leaves, Y/N watches him go with a mixture of gratitude and apprehension. They take a deep breath, trying to calm the fluttering nerves in their stomach as they turn their attention back to Frypan.

"Alright, Y/N, let's get started," Frypan says, rolling up his sleeves and gesturing towards the workstation piled high with ingredients. "We've got a lot to do today."

Y/N nods, steeling themselves for the tasks ahead. They follow Frypan deeper into the bustling kitchen, their senses overwhelmed by the sights, sounds, and smells of the cooking area.

"Alright, Y/N, let's get started," Frypan says, rolling up his sleeves and gesturing for Y/N to join him. "We've got a lot to do today."

As Y/N watches Frypan expertly chop vegetables and stir pots with practiced precision, they can't help but feel a twinge of insecurity creeping in.

But Frypan senses their apprehension and offers a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Greenie. Everyone's got to start somewhere. Just follow my lead, and you'll do fine."

Encouraged by Frypan's words, Y/N tentatively begins to assist him, chopping vegetables and stirring pots under his patient guidance. Despite their initial clumsiness, they soon find their rhythm, with the camaraderie of the kitchen easing their nerves and boosting their confidence.
