It's been awhile hasn't it? Yeah... that's what school will do with ya.. Just can't seem to have any energy, just so tired. However, enough about me, a big thanks to none other than, GabeOven6 for another one-shot request. I hope you like it and that it meets up to your expeditations. I am so, so, soooo sorry for the long wait and I hope this makes it up for it. Again, I am sorry..

The bayou was quiet tonight, the usual hum of crickets and croaking frogs softening as a soulful tune drifted over the water. The source of the melody was Louis, the jazz-loving alligator, perched on a log by the shore, his trumpet gleaming in the moonlight. He was deep in the music, each note a thread woven into the night air, filling it with warmth and charm.

Louis's eyes twinkled as he played, but tonight he was waiting for someone special—Y/N. A friend who had come to mean the world to him. When he noticed the gentle paddling approaching, his grin widened, and he lowered the trumpet.

"Hey there, sugar scales!" Louis called out, spotting Y/N gliding across the water, a faint ripple trailing behind him. Y/N's shorter frame moved carefully, each motion intentional, his eyes fixed on the water's surface as if counting each lily pad along the way.

"Hi, Louis," Y/N murmured softly, looking down before glancing up again, catching Louis's gaze in the moonlight. "I... I heard you playing. Thought I'd come by... if that's alright."

Louis laughed, his voice rolling through the night. "I was hopin' you would! Got a good seat here for ya, right by ol' Louis. Figured you might like a bit of music tonight."

Y/N hesitated only a second before making his way over, carefully lowering himself onto the log. He left a comfortable gap between them, and Louis, noticing this, gave him a little space, understanding his friend's need for a bit of room. It was something he'd come to know well, and he never wanted Y/N to feel crowded. Yet, being this close, hearing Y/N's soft breaths beside him felt just right.

As they settled into a companionable silence, the sounds of the bayou took over—a chorus of frogs, the gentle lapping of water against the moss-covered banks, and the occasional rustle of the wind in the reeds. Louis gazed at the moon's reflection on the water, its shimmering silver glow casting everything in a soft, dreamlike light. He could feel Y/N's quiet contentment beside him, and it made his heart feel as light as the fireflies floating above.

"Ya know," Louis murmured, glancing sideways at Y/N, whose gaze was still fixed on the water, "the moon don't usually shine this bright. Reckon maybe she's got a little extra glow 'cause you're here with me tonight."

Y/N's cheeks flushed a soft, mossy green, his claws fidgeting in his lap as he glanced away, a shy smile tugging at his lips. "Um... thank you, Louis. I... I like being here with you too," he replied, his voice like a gentle ripple in the night air.

Louis chuckled warmly, amused at Y/N's endearing shyness, and gave him a playful nudge with his tail. "Well, don't be gettin' all bashful now!" he teased, his grin wide and full of affection.

Y/N looked up, a mixture of amusement and slight embarrassment in his eyes as he met Louis's gaze. "It's just... I don't get a lot of folks saying things like that," he confessed quietly. "It's... real nice, is all."

Louis's grin softened, a tender warmth spreading through him. "Aw, sugar scales; if I could, I'd tell ya every day."

They shared a smile, a quiet moment full of understanding. After a while, Louis lifted his trumpet, the familiar weight of it grounding him as he took a deep breath. "Want me to play ya somethin' special?"
