Y/N walked down the bustling hallway of Beacon Hills High, a smile on their face as they spotted Stiles leaning against his locker, a goofy grin already plastered on his face. His hair was a little messy, as usual, and his backpack looked like it was on the verge of exploding with all the notebooks and research papers shoved inside.

"Hey, you," Stiles greeted, his eyes lighting up as Y/N approached. "I've been thinking—what if we skipped fifth period and went to the library instead? I found this book about ancient druid symbols that might help us figure out what's been happening with—"

Before Stiles could finish his sentence, a sharp voice cut through the air.

"Excuse me," a tall, confident-looking student said, stepping right in front of Y/N. They had a casual, almost too-perfect smile, and their eyes sparkled with curiosity. "You must be Y/N. I'm Alex, the new kid around here."

Alex extended a hand toward Y/N, their smile lingering a bit too long. Stiles watched as Y/N shook Alex's hand, a friendly but cautious smile appearing.

"Nice to meet you, Alex," Y/N replied politely, still holding onto Stiles' hand with their free one.

Stiles shifted his weight from one foot to the other, his eyes narrowing slightly. He didn't like the way Alex was looking at Y/N—like they were a puzzle waiting to be solved.

"So, Y/N," Alex continued, seemingly oblivious to Stiles' presence, "I was wondering if you could show me around today. Maybe even give me some pointers on surviving my first week here?"

Y/N glanced at Stiles, sensing his unease. "Actually, I have plans with my boyfriend," they replied, squeezing Stiles' hand a little tighter. "But maybe another time?"

Stiles tried to keep his expression neutral, but inside, a flicker of jealousy ignited. What was with this new kid and his overly friendly attitude? Why did he seem so... interested in Y/N?

Sure, Stiles could see why—Y/N was perfect. Their hair always seemed to fall just right, their lips were soft and impossibly kissable, and their personality? It was magnetic, drawing people in like a force of nature. But that didn't mean some random new kid could just swoop in and act like Y/N wasn't already taken. Not on Stiles' watch.

Alex's smile widened as if they hadn't just been politely turned down. "Oh, come on, Y/N. It wouldn't hurt to have a second tour guide. Besides," Alex added, glancing at Stiles with a knowing smirk, "I'm sure your boyfriend wouldn't mind sharing you for a bit, right?"

Stiles' jaw tightened, and he could feel his heartbeat pick up. He wasn't normally the jealous type—or at least, he liked to think he wasn't—but something about Alex rubbed him the wrong way. It wasn't just the way Alex was looking at Y/N; it was the way they were almost... too confident, as if they were used to getting exactly what they wanted. And right now, they seemed to want Y/N's attention.

"Actually," Stiles interjected, his tone a bit sharper than he intended, "we've got a pretty busy day ahead. Lots of supernatural mysteries to solve, right, Y/N?" He flashed a smile at Y/N, hoping to lighten the mood, but he couldn't shake the edge in his voice.

Y/N nodded, catching onto Stiles' unease. "Yeah, we do. But thanks for the offer, Alex. Maybe we'll catch up later."

Alex's expression didn't falter. If anything, their eyes seemed to darken with amusement. "Sure thing," they said smoothly, as if they hadn't noticed the dismissal. "I'll see you around, Y/N," they added with a nod, "nice meeting you."

Stiles barely managed a nod back before Alex sauntered away, disappearing into the crowd of students. As soon as Alex was out of earshot, Stiles let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding.
