You Say, I Say

You claim there's finally peace,
But I think that this is the end of me.

You say, "Forgive and forget."
I say, "I don't think I'm capable of that yet."

You say, "She's trying to fix things."
I say, "She's pulling on your heart strings."

You say we were the best of friends.
Haven't you realized that this is the end?

The curtain is already falling.
"Time to bid adieu to the crowd," they're calling.

The final word has dropped,And the blood has finally stopped.

"She took so much before,"
I say, "There's no blood left to bleed anymore."

You ask me to forgive her constantly,
When she has never once uttered an apology.

But what wouldn't I do for you, Dad?
When you'll leave me soon, I fear making you sad.

I can't make you any promises.
My "forgiving heart" isn't flawless.

She hurt me bad,
But I know you love us both, Dad.
