Don't fall in love with a poet,
Cause you'll break her heart and you won't even know it.
A poet loves forever, and if you can't offer the same, don't even try.
Don't even wonder why.

If you walk into her life,
You are setting her up for a life full of strife.
Cause she'll write until you can't be erased in time,
But she won't ever get to call you "mine".

You don't want to belong
In the endless piles of love songs.
You don't want to do her that much wrong.
You don't want her to love you for that long.

Her poetry may be beautiful.
The permanence of her writing may make you feel youthful.
But at the end of the day,
You'll wish you never made her feel that way.

Don't fall in love with a poet because you'll regret it.
Don't start something you'll eventually want to quit.
Because a poet is the type to hold on
No matter how many times you do them wrong.

You'll live on forever
In pages you'll read never.
In the lines, she'll capture your eyes.
In the rhymes, she'll confess to your lies.

Not a detail will be forgotten.
She'll hold on even if it's rotten.
You fall in love so often.
She'll never understand the love you had begotten.

Don't promise her something
When you plan to give her nothing.
She'll write a line for every lie,
Asking you why.

Don't fall in love with a poet.
You'll live forever and you won't know it.
If you aren't able to love her the same way,
Why hold on for another day?
