Sun and Moon

The moon cannot shine
Without the sun's rays.
And I cannot write
Without loving you this way.

Morning or night,
I crave your false embrace.
Dreaming of stars so bright,
To love you still is such a waste.

"There are other fish in the sea,"
They tell me time and again.
But they're not for me,
I won't try to pretend.

I would love to love someone new,
But a writer has only one heart.
These years have not been few,
But in new love, I refuse to take part.

I do not create my own light,
You shine for me.
I am only this bright,
For you to see.
