The Ways I Say I Love You

"I love you" can't be said in only one way.
I say it every day that I don't,
When I'm too scared, so I write it in a note.

When I sing my favorite tune,
And within it, I can hear echoes of you.

In the unspoken things.
Like the speechlessness that seeing you brings,
Or the silent way my heart rings.

In picking flowers,
Whispering "I love you, I love you not" as the petals fall for hours.

In watching the sun rise.
And then watching as it dies.
Telling myself I'll be alright, telling myself lies.

I love you in ways I can never quite say,
Because I love you too much for it to be explained.
