The Love of a Writer

They say writers only have one muse,
So why am I trying so hard to replace you?
They say writers only love once,
So why have I been trying so hard these past months?

I try to picture someone else in my mind
When I write.
But after a long time,
I come to find
That the pages are still blank.

Not a word comes to mind,
Not a single fucking rhyme.
Every song seems out of place,
When all I can see is your face.

I try to write in their fonts,
But the words just taunt me.
I reach out to grab them,
To find that they have conned me.

Yeah, writers only have one muse.
One person that makes their heart beat,
Wild and true.
You're that person for me.
But I'm not the one for you.

If you ever wrote,
I wouldn't be found in a single verse.
Not a line, not a word.
Unrequited love is a curse.
