Sharp fangs caught my eyes. The sparkly white almost blinded my eyes, distracting me from the overall picture.
It was fine.Although her teeth appeared like teeny tiny paper blades they couldn't do much to me. They'd just scratch me a little while my sword would cut her open.
At this point of my life I didn't glorify violence yet. It felt different fantasizing about hurting a dark and murky blob or a living being.I disliked the thought of hurting her but her blared fangs definitely proved that she was coming for me without holding back. She looked like a wild hyena, hungry for my blood instead of the sweet little fairy I just saw a few moments ago.
Still, I couldn't let myself get intimidated by that. I already wasn't at my best so I couldn't get distracted by the shininess of her pearly white teeth.
I swung my sword in the air, testing the weight in preparation. Meanwhile she was slowly beginning to circle me. I still wasn't sure what her tactic was.
Would she bite me to death or what? She didn't pull any hidden weapons so either she underestimated me or she had something up her sleeve.
And by the look on her face that thing must be huge.
Her face didn't even show a hint of insecurity or fear. It made it hard to evaluate her, get any useful information."So are you going to start or what?" I asked challengingly, trying to draw her from her reserve. I couldn't stand the tension, not knowing what was going on.
In a flash she moved across the yard and stood in front of me. My mind was still occupied with the surprise that a fairy could move this fast when my body already reacted.
Still shocked, my reflexes kicked in and I jumped to the side which made me miss her sharp claws that were grasping for my sword arm.
I immediately raised my sword protectively because I didn't want to be surprised again.
In the matter of a second she was gone again. My mind was thinking hard about her tactic but searching for any hints was hard when I couldn't even see my opponent.
One thing was easy though. Living with my sister I had almost gained a sixth sense, feeling when someone was behind me.While turning around I sent a jab in her direction, hoping to still get to her in some way. My sword met flesh for a brief moment before she was gone again. My eyes found her slightly crouched body a few feet further, studying her wound.
I sent her a smirk while she pulled her shirt from the sticky wound in her side. It wasn't deep but still bled a generous amount.
My small win returned some confidence to me. Maybe she wasn't as good as she deemed herself to be.Her face was scrunched up in hate and probably pain. I was surprised by her outright expression of it since her wound was only on the surface. Shouldn't she have more of a poker face?
It didn't take too long until she moved towards me again in renewed energy, fueled by her anger. "Human" she growled in vitriol through clenched teeth.
Her words were aimed to hurt me, to diminish me to a mere human but they didn't have the intended effect. She didn't know that I would rather be called a human than a powerless and useless witch.
