...unkempt".
I could only describe what I saw in front of me as the rawest form of nature.
The grassland was a vast steppe with low weeds and bushes. Only few trees with small and thick leaves stood next to the more watery areas.

Suddenly a dark shadow crossed over my head. I even felt the whoosh of the wind as a bird flew right past me. The bird that was probably over two meters long took of quickly without considering the small person that he had almost ran over just now.

Despite my massive flinch I was thankful to Davian. This morning he had excused me to the other tenants under the circumstances that I was terribly sick. And if Lady Thatcher would come looking for me he would cover for me.
I wasn't sure if he was doing this to help me or just for his own pleasure of getting entertainment. I hoped it was the first but in the end all that mattered was that I had his support.

And then everything had happened really fast. We'd met next to the school's entrance to start the second part of the tournament. I was wearing more compact and sturdy leather pants with a leather vest over a long sleeve linen top because Davian had already warned me about the harsh winds of the prairie.
And although the sun was shining it was true. The winds were lashing out on us like whips while covering our bodies in brownish sand and grime. Luckily I had put my hair up in braids so I wouldn't be strangled by the strands.

Only a few moments had gone by since we had stepped out of the portal that connected the school to the far edges of the prairie but my skin already felt sticky and yucky from the sandy and humid air. But that wasn't my worst problem.

In fact, everything about this terrain seemed bad.
Right in the middle of it was barely anything but animals running around. There were no natural obstacles to hide behind like trees or bushes.
I could see a million different species of animals that were running around in groups or by themselves. The swarms of reddish orange birds -that were calmly walking around on the ground before suddenly flying away rapidly like they were being chased by gigantic cats- were possibly one of the less scary ones.

"Everyone, say hello the the prairie" Ronan said while standing in front of the group.

"You'll have to form groups of ten for the hunt" he ordered.
This was the worst part. I looked around aimlessly because I didn't know anyone. They were all students who already knew each other while I was just a maid who somehow ended up here.
I reminded myself that nobody knew that. I wasn't wearing my maid's uniform and felt ready to fight.
Feeling motivated, I searched for a random group that wasn't full already.

Suddenly while I was walking around I somehow ended up in between two girls.
"Oh sorry" I awkwardly apologized before I reminded myself that I couldn't avoid everyone here if I wanted to find a group.
"Do you still have a spot for me in your group?" I asked them, group being an exaggeration. They just really looked like two besties that were lost together. I hope I wouldn't destroy their get-together.
