Hindi inaasahan ni Atlas ang kaniyang narinig mula sa mga labi ni doctor Crime. Dalawang mabibigat na akusasyon ang sinabi nito. Murder at anthrax.
"What? Paano doc na naging murder ang pagkamatay ng dalawang kasamahan mong professor?" ang tanong niya kay doctor Crime.
"Yes doctor Crime, and... anthrax?" ang pagsegunda na tanong naman ni director Lipayo dito. "Hindi ba ang symptoms ng anthrax usually lumalabas after one to a week upon exposure?"
"At nito lang nakaraan na araw nagkaroon nang pagnanakaw ng anthrax sample...at wala pang twenty-four hours ay namatay naman ang kasamahan mong propesor."
Tumango ang ulo ni doctor Crime, "yes...tama ka...usually one day to a week ay lumalabas na ang symptom pero hindi ganun kabilis...kaya naman sa iba ay naaagapan pa, but this? Like what I have said this is a new strain...it was mutated by assing another bacteria E Coli."
"How can you be sure about this? I mean...we know you're an expert...we know your expertise and your experience but...the surety of this?"
"I asked the opinion of my mentor, she's also a forensic pathologist and she worked with the US NIST at sinilip niya ang archives ng mga anthrax pero wala pang ganitong strain."
"Holy shit...this is just getting worse." ang bulong ng director.
"Doctor," ang sabat niya at lumingon sa kaniya si doctor Crime at dahil sa malapit lang ang upuan nito sa kaniya ay napansin niya ang pangingitim ng paligid ng mga mata nito. It is obvious that she was lacking of sleep.
"Yes?" ang patanong na sagot nito sa kaniya.
"Let's say that...there really is a new strain of anthrax...how about the murder? The murder accusations?"
"Burglary ng aming laboratory? Kidnapping of our own professor Professor Magtibay? And deaths of our two porfessors first Doctor Caspin and now Doctor Benigno, na tila ba ginawang guinea pig ng suspect."
"But...what if nagkataon lang na professor ng university ang tinamaan ng bagong strain?"
"I don't believe sa nagkataon lang." Ang mariin na sagot ni doctor Crime sa kaniya.
"Well...but what if there is already an outbreak, baka naman matagal nang maysakit si Doctor Caspin at nahawaan niya si...who's the other victim?"
"Doctor Benigno." Doctor Crime supplied the name of the other victim professor.
Tumango si director Lipayo, "yes...paano kung nahawa lang si doctor Benigno kay doctor Caspin?"
Umiling si doctor Crime, "first of all...anthrax is a bacteria and you cannot get the disease from one person to another, it has to be direct, you've got to have a direct contact tith the bacteria, like nahawakan mo tapos isinubo mo or na-inhale mo katulad nang nagyari noon sa Russia, na nasama o isinama ang anthrax sa hangin na pumatay ng maraming tao."
"What if may outbreak na sa university?" ang tanong ni director Lipayo.
"Am I dead director?" ang sarkastikong sagot ni doctor Crime kay director Lipayo at nakita ni Atlas na tumikom ang mga labi ng NBI director.
"Uhm doctor," he butted in dahil sa ramdam niya na napahiya ang director sa sinabi ni Doctor Crime.
"Kung may outbreak na sa university, siguradong mapupuno ang mga hospital at hindi lang dalawang propesor ang casualty, may mga esudiyante hanggang sa janitor...this cannot be transmitted from person to person."
