Ch.11

Alby told me I was a runner again. I don't know how that was possible. Gally wasn't too happy about it and Newt didn't seem to be either. Both Minho and I left that day I was struggling really bad.

It hurt trying to keep pace with him but I didn't want to lose the job.

I heard sirens in the distance "huh a new greenie must've shown up" I said chuckling.

Minho smiled "let's head back." He said we both decided to be done for the day as nothing has changed and ran back. We got out of the maze seeing chuck and a boy which I assumed was the greenie he stared right at me like he knew me he did look oddly familiar... there was a guy that I kept seeing in my dreams telling me everything was going to be okay it looked like him for some reason "Hey chuck!" I shouted he came up a month ago.

"Hey McKenna!" He shouted "new greenie huh? how does it feel to be promoted ?" Ben comes up next to us smiling "feels great Ben!"

I slowed down my pace as my foot was hurting.

"You okay?" Minho asked. "Yeah." Newt came over immediately seeing us and Gally just stared from the distance.

NEWTS POV

"Hey you okay? How was the maze?" I questioned I was worried she wouldn't make it back on time.

"It was okay. If I'm being honest Newt I'm trying my best to keep up with Minho.. I just hope nothing serious happens." She said I pulled her in a hug which she seemed shock in my response to that but she hugged back. I missed being close to her.

"I'll try and talk to Alby." I said "no! Newt I like doing it it's just..." we were cut off by yelling we looked over seeing the greenie tried to escape but Gally shoved him down "we gotta stop meeting like this greenie!" Gally said.

McKenna immediately ran over the best she could I followed.

"Get off me!" The greenie shoved Gally gettin up "alright calm calm calm!" Gally put his hands up backing up.

"What's going on?" McKenna questioned.

"Calm down alright" I said to the greenie.

"Woah take it easy!" Everyone was shouting at the greenie as he stood up.

The greenie stared at McKenna making me a bit jealous.

He kept staring like he knew her.

I put my hand on McKennas back to show him to pretty much back off.

But he didn't seem to care.

"Just relax!" I said.

"What's wrong with you guys?!?" The boy yelled he was scared we all knew that it was understandable.

We've all been through it.

"Just calm down alright!"
I said trying to ease tention.

"No! You can- why won't you tell me what's out there!" The boy asked scared.

He stared at McKenna again in slowly put her behind me in case anything happened but she stayed to my right.
"It's for your safety!" She told him.

"You guys can't just keep me here!" The boy yells.

"We can't let you leave!" Alby states.

"Why not?" The maze starts making creaking noises.

McKennas pov

I looked at the new greenie as he stared at me then the maze.

Newt was in front of me as Gally came up behind me.

We all looked at the maze knowing it was going to close.

Wind blew towards us dirt and whatever else came with it I covered my face slightly with my hand looking towards Gally.

He looked back at me.

Gally and I were not on speaking terms as much as id wish we were.
But I'm glad Newt and I are talking again.

"What the hell?..." the greenie whispered.

The doors were closing slowly.

Gally walked over to the greenie glaring at him "Next time I'm going to let you leave."

He took my hand and walked away "Can we talk?" He said.

"About what?" I mentioned glaring at him.

"I don't want you running in the maze." He said.

"Gally thats not my decision! It's Albys!" I shouted.

Gally looked frustrated "I thought you didn't even care about me anymore.." I whispered looking down.

Gally placed his hand gently on my neck "McKenna. I'll always care about you." He said looking at me.

I nodded and walked away after that.

I sat next to Minho at the bonfire seeing Newt and the new greenie talk.

"So you and Newt?" Minho questioned I laughed "you're funny really Minho." I said shaking my head taking a sip of the drink that Gally made me.

Gally kept looking over at me as he fought people in the circle.

"What? It seems to me you're stuck between two people." Minho said.

Newt looked over motioning to Minho and I I assumed he was telling the greenie about us being runners. "Maybe three now." He chuckled as I looked at the greenie.
