Ch.17

McKennas POV

I sat by the dead heads processing what happened when I heard movement "Oh- hey- sorry to startle you um. They wanted me to tell you the banishment is about to happen." Thomas said as I turned to him.

"Oh okay..." I whispered hugging my knees closer to my chest.

Thomas came over "you okay?" He asked quietly sitting next to me. "Yeah... it's just why do we have to banish him?" I asked.

"Are you crazy? He almost killed you!" Thomas said staring at me like I was nuts.

"Thomas he's a human being like all of us we all make mistakes." I said staring off in the distance.

He sighed quietly "I know but it's the rules. Whether we like it or not."

"I've been meaning to tell you something... I- I just don't know how." He said I looked at him confused.

Telling me what? "What do you mean?" I asked.

He put his hand on my cheek gently "Thomas." I whispered. "I need to remember." He said before gently putting his lips on mine.

I realized what was happening as I tried to pull away "Thomas!" I shouted shoving him off.

"I'm sorry I just-" Thomas said looking forward confused.

"Whatever Thomas!" I got up walking away I noticed he was following me so i sped up my pace.

I was beyond pissed why did he think it was okay to kiss me? I mean I'm not with Gally but... I did have a weird feeling in my stomach when Thomas kissed me.

Newt came over "you okay?" He asked I nodded "let's go it's time." He said.

We went over as I seen Gally staring at me with an unreadable facial expression.

He was very hard for me to read sometimes.

All the boys surrounded the maze opening.

Gally didn't want me apart of it only to watch if I wanted to.

They all had poles as Minho brought Ben over.

I knew this hurt Minho over anyone.

"Just listen to me!" Ben shouts angrily.

He wasn't even Ben anymore..

Chuck came over to me putting his hand on my arm.

I put my arm around his shoulders protectively.

Thomas came up behind us watching intently "just listen to me she did this!" He yells as Minho kept moving him forward.

"Please Minho! You guys can't really love her!" Ben shouts.

Minho shoved him in the circle as everyone closed off any possible exit. "Alby!"

I watched as Minho cut off his rope and he fell to the ground gasping for air.

Ben whimpered almost crying as he coughed up
Blood.

"Minho... pleaseeeee pleaseeee don't please don't!" Ben begged his leader.

Minho stared at him not showing much emotion other than hurt.

I squeezed Chucks hand tightly I felt like I couldn't really even watch as Thomas put his arm around me.

Alby nodded giving the final word.

Minho threw the bag in the maze the doors started to make noises and the wind picked up "POLES!" Alby shouted everyone picked up their poles and started pushing Ben back as Minho walked away.

I stared at Gally who looked back at me but tried remaining focused on Ben.

I noticed Chuck has left and I couldn't take it anymore so I buried my head in Thomas neck.

Thomas covered my face as he watched all I would hear was begging and crying.

Pleading.

"She did this."

"Believe me"

"No no! Please"

"Gally you can't love her!"

"No no please!"

"I can get better!"

"Listen to me!"

"Push him in!"

"Stop!"

"I'll get better!"

I took one look seeing Gally and Newt had fully pushed him in I walked away from Thomas staring at Gally and Newt as my body froze.

Ben and I made eye contact "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

I looked down staring at the ground before me.

I had no words.

No movement.

No heartbeat.

All there was is silence.

I felt eyes beaming at me when my head was being shook slightly "Hey.." I looked up out of my trance seeing Gally he pulled me to him as we walked away.

Before we left I heard Alby say one thing that stung me.

"He belongs to the maze now."
