Ch.14

"Don't worry no one comes up here anymore your safe" Gally calls out.
We were on a bridge that seemed abandoned.
"Why not?" Newt asked.

"You'll see" Gally replied.
We went to the edge seeing half of it missing.

"Great" I mumbled "how do we get across?" I asked.

"Gally?" I turned around seeing him stepping back "trust me" he said "alright. Make some room fellas." He started running and jumped landing on the edge.

I felt myself sigh of relief, "were you asking for a death wish?!?" I yelled.

Gally turned to me smiling, "it'll be okay! I'll catch you!" He yelled.
I looked at Thomas and Newt I stepped back "McKenna I don't think you shou-" Thomas was cut off by me running.

I ran as fast as I could jumping, my hair flew back immediately as I felt the wind hitting my face.

I landed on the edge just barely almost falling backwards but Gally caught me , "are you okay?"
"Yeah" I said catching my breath. He pulled me up next to him

"YOUR CRAZY MCKENNA!" Newt yelled.
I laughed a bit, "COME ON!" I yelled.

"YOUR UP!" Gally yelled.
Newt and Thomas stared at me. "LETS GO!"
I watched as they jumped with Thomas yelling.

I caught Newt as he landed next to me Gally caught Thomas.

"You okay?" I asked Newt nodded.

Gally soon guided us we had to move carefully, we followed him to an opening, to which seemed like a main area of the city walk.

I stopped watching a train go by.
This place was huge. I looked around in amazement.

So much electronic and electricity being used.
I was pretty sure Gally could tell by our reactions we never seen anything like it. I mean hell we've been stuck behind walls so why would we?

Even he was, but he seemed to be used to it...

Maybe he was here longer than we thought.

I looked at him with concern. "This is a long way from the Glade" Newt comments.
I walked more forward in front of the boys to get a better view.

"Fifteen minutes to mandatory curfew." "They have a curfew?" I asked.

I turned back to look at Gally, "everything is under their control." He mentioned.

"Go figure" I mumble.
"Please proceed home. In an orderly fashion. Remember, this is for your safety"

I looked at the others. "Yeah, we better get off the streets." Gally said. "And I know it's hard but... act like you've seen it before." I sighed at that.

Thomas looked at me before we continued to follow him.

He ran to a corner hiding behind the building.
I pressed my back against the wall as did the others.

A vehicle drove by blaring sirens.

"They've definitely upped security.  I'm guessing you shanks have something to do with that." Gally said.

I forgot he didn't know... I looked at Thomas he looked back nodding "there's something you should know Gally" he looked at me confused.

"You'll have to tell me later, alright let's get outta here" Gally said I immediately followed him.

We went across the side walk moving quickly, "alright McKenna you're up" "what?" I asked.

"Come on!" Gally encouraged.

He put his hand for me to step on I stepped my foot as Newt had ahold of my waist.

I jumped up climbing on the edge.

I grunted getting up.

Thomas was about to go next "I got it" Thomas jumped up I laughed watching him struggle a bit "funny" Thomas mumbled he climbed up and we helped Newt.

Gally jumped up immediately after.

All of us ran on this edge that guided us to a building.

He went inside the door, and soon went up the stairs.

I followed him seeing a balcony.

"There it is if WICKEDS got Minho, that's where they're keeping him." Gally said.

Gally opened a bag and pulled out a telescope.

He set it up. I stood in between Newt and Gally.
"Lawerence has been trying to find a way in for years" Gally said.

"Place is crawling with soldiers." Gally said looking through.
"They got surveillance everywhere scanners at every entrance." Gally leaned on the ledge I did as well as the others.

"Sounds like a bloody fortress"  Newt said.
"Yeah, I thought you said you had a way in" Thomas reminded.

"I might." Gally said "what do you mean might? Gally you said you can get us in there okay? We're following your lead here! We trusted you we don't have to do that!" Thomas said.

"Thomas!" I yelled "no.. he's okay. He's right" Gally looked at me. I was confused "what?" I asked.

"Let's get a few things straight first. There's no point in going any further." Gally looked at me.

"Look I know what I did. Okay? I may not remember but I know. I see Chuck and McKennas face every time I close my eyes." I looked at him in shock.

"I see you wailing for me." He said looking forward. "It haunts me in my sleep, not knowing if you were okay or not" He shook his head,  "listen we don't have to be friends us guys. And I'm not asking for anybodies forgiveness especially yours McKenna, you have every right to be mad at me." He looked at me.

"I'm asking that we put it behind us. Because we want the same thing. I know you guys developed feelings for her, and McKenna I still love you. I still want to be with you. But I know you've developed feelings for them as well. I don't know if you still love me anymore. I know I fucked that up. I can see that. When you yelled at me I knew I did then... and I knew I deserved it. But..." I felt the boys eyes on me.

"I'm fine with whoever you choose in the end. I'm sure they will be too. But just know I'll love you always and I'll always be there to protect you. Believe it or not, I did my best to look for you" he said calmly. "I know it may not have seemed like it but that man back there? He knows how many days I went out to look for you." He said looking at me. "I talked to him all the time about you" he shook his head.

"I went in different areas alone by myself fighting off these .. cranks..." He continued. "I still love you. You don't have to decide now. But just know that at least. I'll wait for you." He said.
