Ch.23

Gally POV

I couldn't believe that stupid shank did it.

He went into the maze.
Breaking so many rules!!!

I walked away angrily shoving Newt in the process, who tried to calm me down.

Maybe I should've went in! Not him! I should've... I-...I should've. Now she's going to hate me and fall for Thomas because he went in and not me.

I punched a tree near by immediately regretting it but I held my hand as if it was nothing.

Later that night I couldn't sleep at all I just stared at the opening wishing.... hoping.. she's okay.

I did hope Minho was too because that meant she could possibly be.
Why did this even have to happen?

This is all Albys fault.
All him.

I heard a loud scream which sounded like hers. That made me jump up from my hammock.

"Please be okay" I silently prayed to myself looking at the maze as if that was going to help the situation.

The others were sound asleep as if nothing happened but I couldn't.

All I could think about was regretting not going after her.

I don't know when but I finally fell asleep.

I was sitting at the cafeteria eating my food watching the others go by getting there's.

There was a lot of us here but each day someone was being taken. We all had no control over it.

It felt like we were in prison.
A lot of us grew up here though. I don't really remember much from my childhood.

I looked up seeing a girl that I knew. My heart was beating fast as she came over "Hey Gally, Newt and Winston" she sat down in front of me her beautiful brown eyes and pale skin being a perfect combination.

"Hey" I said smiling back and continued to eat my sandwich.

"You guys want to do something fun later?" She asked.

"Sure!" Newt said really fast.

I was surprised by his reaction and didn't say much. "Gally?" McKenna asked me.

"Yeah.." I said hesitantly.

I looked over at a boy that I didn't get along with.

Thomas.

He kept starring at McKenna making me grumble. I watched as he came over "Hey McKenna want to hang out later?" I heard him whisper in her ear.

She giggled which made me feel a certain feeling I couldn't put on "I... I can't" she said he felt defeated but only smirked "I'll see you later" he said eyeing her up and down and walked away.

"What's his problem?" I asked.

"I don't know we've been hanging out a bit" she admitted I almost choked on my food "What?" I said confused.

"Yeah he's been kinda clingy if being honest" she said.

Newt and I looked at each other with a knowing look. "Clingy" I whispered. "Why don't you tell him to leave you alone?" I asked "It doesn't feel right too" she said shaking her head eating a grape.

— later that day

I was outside waiting for McKenna and the others.
Someone touched my arm and I jumped seeing it was just her "Oh hey. McKenna are you okay?" I asked.

"They took Newt" she said suddenly. She has tears in her eyes and I pulled her in a hug holding her tightly as she cried.

I couldn't believe it he was gone.

I only seen him during lunch and now he's gone....

I woke up gasping as I heard Chuck yelling "GUYS! Get up!" I got up running over to Chuck seeing the doors open.

The dream was weird. Just like the other ones I had of her and I.

They had to be real.

All of us waited by the doors but we haven't seen anyone that made me lose hope....
She's really gone....

"I told you Chuck. They're not coming back" Newt said sadly.

I stayed there watching I had a little bit of more hope than Newt did.
Everyone was leaving when it was just Chuck and I.

Zart looked at me "Gally!" He said I turned around and looked seeing them "MCKENNA!" I yelled.

She was carrying Alby with Thomas and Minho.

"YEAH!" Chuck yelled happily everyone came back over.

"YES!" Chuck kept cheering.
When they finally got out and set Alby down, I quickly hugged McKenna tightly.

I felt her hugging me back just as tight.
