Ch.4

"We take everyone who can fight" Thomas said I gripped his hand standing in between Newt and Thomas, I looked at Vince with a pleading look.

Vince looked at us. Vince and I have built a father daughter relationship since Mary has been gone.

"Follow the roads where we can." Brenda shows up next to Vince, "We can make it back within a week." Thomas said.

"A week?" Vince replied angrily "It took us six months to get here" Vince reminded.

"We got over 100 kids here now" Vince said I looked at Newt who looked back.
"We can't just hang out here forever after what we just pulled. You wanna wander off to some random point on the map. You don't even know what's there." Vince said.

I looked at him. "I get what you're saying, but it's for Minho. He's been there for all of us." I said looking at him. "I don't care how far I have to travel to find him whether it's with or without you guys." I mentioned looking at him. Vince looked back at me going to speak but was cut off.

"I know what's there" I heard someone speak up. I turned my head seeing Jorge.

"It's been a few years but, I've been there The Last City.thats what WICKED called it." Jorge said.
"It was their whole base of operations" "if that city is still standing. That's the last place you wanna go Hermano" Jorge said to us.
"That's the lions den."

"It's nothing we haven't done before" Thomas mentioned "Yeah with months of planning...." Vince continued to remind us. "And reliable information the element of surprise. None of which we have now." Vince reasoned.

"Vince. I've thought this through." Thomas replied. "Would you just hear me out!" Thomas said getting annoyed "The last time we went off half cooked. I lost everything!" Vince yelled.

"You remember that?" Vince asks looking at us. I looked down. "Look I know it's Minho. All right?" Vince said looking at me. "But you can't ask me to put those kids on the line for one man. I won't do it."

I heard the radio go off. "Searching the grid now. A is completed. Scanning B sector now."

"Shit hit the lights! Let's go!" Thomas took my hand, Jorge shut the lights off Thomas and I ran outside seeing everything turn off.

I looked far out seeing two Bergs our way.

"Jeez they're getting close." Vince said coming up next to us.

"You're right. We can't stay here." Vince grabbed Thomas shoulder before leaving.

I looked at Thomas with worried eyes.

It was in the middle of the night, I heard footsteps I grabbed a blade that I kept on me.

I got up grabbing the person and putting them up against the wall, "it's just me!" Newt yelled almost while surrendering.

"Sorry." I said letting go. He looked at me "let's go" he said taking my hand I put my blade away "why?" I asked "Thomas is leaving and we're helping." He said I smiled following.

We went out to the vehicle, I noticed Frypan was already inside, I stood there next to Newt waiting for Thomas.

I heard footsteps Newt soon spoke up, "Where do you think you're going then?" He turned the light on I smirked at Thomas who looked at us.

Thomas sighed looking at us, "Were you seriously going to go without me?" I asked Thomas I was hurt a little.

He didn't know what to say, "got it." I said nodding and getting in.

"McKenna." Thomas started. "Don't be a twat about it. I'm already in, come on." Newt said he grabbed his bag and started walking to the jeep.
"No. No not this time" Thomas pleaded with us.

"Look even if we find Minho there's no guarantee we make it back from this." I looked at Newt who looked back at me.

"Well, you need all the help you can get then, won't you?" Newt asked.

Newt opened the front door revealing Frypan, I smirked at Thomas.

Thomas chuckled, "well, we started this together. May as well end it that way too" I nodded at Newts words.
Thomas smiled at us "Okay. Let's go get him back."
