TRAVIS POV

I walked down the hallway of WICKEDs main building.

I worked with them before the maze, I was a spy. I knew what was going on and what all was bound to happen. I still had my memories. But I had to play along.

Yes, I betrayed my friends. But do I regret it? I don't know.

Ava had me follow her, "are you ready?" She asked me. "It'll be fine."

"People are beginning to lose faith, doctor." The man said. "When you sealed off the walls, you assured us.... That it would only be a temporary precaution." The man continued. "Why have you now denied all entry?"

Ava spoke up, "Because things are changing and not for the better. Infection rates were up 300%" Ava states.

"Fortunately, we may be on the verge of a break through." Minho shows up on the screen "This is subject A7"

"They spent over three years in maze trials. The antibodies produce in response have been the strongest we ever seen. We're extracting a new serum as we speak and with your support we'd like to begin with human trials."

"Thank you, Doctor that is very impressive." The women said.

The blonde women spoke up, "but we have been down this road before, frankly we are all beginning to wonder if..," "if our resources can be better spent elsewhere." The man finished.

"Meaning?" Ava asked.

"Safe zones." The women replied. "protected areas like the one we're in, we could save as many people as possible." She said.

I was shocked, "how many?" I spoke up.

They turned to me, "a thousand?" I wanted a cure.

"Two thousand?" I started walking forward.
"And that's assuming your protected areas, stay protected." I stated. "Which we know they won't." Ava sat down, "the infected already outnumber the healthy three to one. All you'd be doing is delaying the inevitable. Have any of you ever lost someone to the virus?" I lost my dad because of this.

It was very traumatizing watching and hearing... because of it it makes me want to find a cure. I must find one. I almost believe I already have. But

The women looked at me nodding, "a niece."

"Anna." I looked at Ava. "I don't know if you know this but your daughter was bit" I said.

Ava looked at me shocked, "But imagine if we were able to live with the virus. To survive it. Imagine being able to tell Anna. That you could give her the chance. To live a normal life. We've never been this close to a cure. And we've sacrificed a lot to get this far. Please. Don't let those sacrifices go to be for nothing."

The meeting was over I watched the city while thinking about the others. Ava came up to me, "was my daughter okay?" Ava asked.

"She seemed to be. But I don't know now since we didn't take her." I stated.

Ava sighed, "we will get her." She mentioned.

"You did a good job." Ava commented.
"They can be a tough crowd. You handled them perfectly. Delaying the inevitable Thomas used to say the same thing about us. Do you still think about him?" Ava asks.

"I can help you with that, those memories." She suggested.

Thomas was like a brother. But it felt hurt he didn't agree with anything I'm doing. Which felt right to me.

"There's no reason to keep holding on to them it's a simple procedure." Ava mentioned.

"There is a reason. I want to remember." I said.

"If we find a cure...that's the only way all this was worth it."

"I hope you're right." Ava said.
