Ch.31

Thomas ran out I ran out after him the others following everyone was running and screaming with the torches.

"Gally" I whispered scared.

He held my hand "Winston what's going on?" Thomas asks.

"The doors they aren't closing!" He called out.

I watched the other gladers running to the doors I took off with Gally and the others following.

All of us all stood watching I let go of Gallys hand going forward confused "Why are they not closing?" I asked Minho.

"I don't know this isn't normal." He said confused also.

I stood between Thomas and Newt we heard a loud noise making us scream.

I looked around seeing all the other doors opening "The hell?" I said shocked.

Crows appeared being annoying as usual. But I had a bad feeling.

All the other doors were opening. "Thomas" I said scared.

"Okay Chuck. Go to the council hall and start barricading the doors" Thomas said to Chuck taking my hand.

"Winston you go with him" Newt orders.

"Got it" Winston followed Chuck "grab the others tell them to go for the forest! Go hide now!" Gally ordered

"Minho, I want you to grab every weapon you can find" "be safe" I said to Minho he nodded to me leaving.

Frypan and a few others went with him "McKenna you and I are gonna go get Alby alright? Come on!"

"No she stays with me!" Gally said taking my arm "Gally we don't have time for this!" I shouted.

"RUN!" I heard someone yell we all look over seeing the gladers running.

I looked at the door in front of me seeing grievers not too far ahead.

"Oh no..." I said whispering.

"ALRIGHT EVERYBODY HIDE!"
Thomas yelled everyone started running but I stood there feeling shocked this was happening.

"MCKENNA!" Thomas yelled grabbing my hand I ran with him trying to find Gally but I couldn't.

"Gally?!" I called out while running with Thomas.

"Come on McKenna!" Thomas yelled as we ran the best we could holding hands.

We all ran in the bushes of the garden trying to hide but it didn't blend very well I knew that. "Thomas have to hide somewhere else" I whispered someone was taken in our group.

I hoped Newt and Gally were okay.
I see Newt wasn't too far ahead of us but I didn't know where Gally was.
"Get down!" Thomas calls he pulls me down protectively covering me.

I held onto him almost scared to move.

I looked at the others in our group and held Newts hand.

I heard a scream behind us I looked seeing someone being taken.

"Zart!"  I yelled he was just taken I tried reaching forward to grab him but he left already.
"NO!" I yelled.

Newt helped me up quickly as we all took off running to the hideout.

"Go go to the village!" Thomas yells.

"Alby!" Thomas calls out.
Jeff and Clint had him "are you okay?" Travis asks showing up.
I nodded glad to know he was okay.

"What's going on?" Alby asks.

"They're here..."
"The grievers?" Jeff asks.

A griever attacked someone.

Thomas took a torch still making sure I'm with him I held Newts hand tightly as he squeezed mine.

"Guys what do we do?" Jeff ask.

"It got me!" I hear someone say before being taken.
Everyone was running or being taken "come on!" Thomas shouted.

I stayed close to him and Newt.
A griever came out inches from me  I felt scared "MCKENNA!" Thomas shouted as it was about to attack me.

Travis grabbed a candle lit jar and threw it at the Griever to catch it on fire the griever roared loudly in pain.

Newt took my hand running with the others.

I hoped Gally was okay. That's what I kept praying.

A glader behind us was taken I gasped as I ran faster with Newt.

"Keep moving! Oh shit!" Thomas yells.

Alby fell "Alby!" I called out Travis helps him up quickly and we stood behind him as another griever showed up.

"COME ON!" Thomas yells.

I stood close to Newt as he held me close  to him.

The griever tried attacking us.
But spears were thrown at him "over here let's go!" I heard Minho call out I sighed of relief that he and a few were okay.

"Over here!" Chuck yelled.

I ran in first with the others following on my tail.

I finally let out a quiet breath as I held onto Newt protectively I didn't want us all to die this way. Not today not ever.
"Careful" I whispered.
