Ch.22

All of us were running out in the city. We hid behind bushes.
I sat next to Gally "well they're definitely pissed" Gally commented.
I laughed.
"How far are the tunnels?"he asked. Thomas looked at us, "maybe twelve blocks from here." I looked over at Newt to make sure he was okay.

He didn't seem to be doing well at all, that made me worried he can't die....
Newt started coughing I got up going over, "what can I do?" I asked.

He shook his head "there's nothing you can do" he said looking at me. I looked at Minho with worry.

"How are you feeling?" Minho asked. "Terrible." Newt said.

Newt grabbed my face gently, "at least I get to see you one last time" he smiled. "Don't say that you're going to make it. You promised." I said glaring.

"At least let me do this" he said looking at me he pulled me into him I felt his lips on mine and I kissed him passionately back before pulling away.

He slowly let go gasping for breath, I looked at Gally he looked at me up and down as did Thomas. They were all talking.

I played with Newts hair "I love you, you know that?" I said looking at him.
He smiled at me, "and I love you." He said playing with my hair gently.

I started tearing up, Thomas came over "Hey Newt, come on bud okay? Let's get you up let's go" he helped Newt get up I helped him stand up as well.

Newt threw his arm over me immediately I tried balancing myself almost falling.
"Woah, woah, woah!" Thomas said trying to catch us.

"You guys okay?" I nodded Newt weakly replied "yeah" "why are you helping us Gally?" I heard Minho say. I looked over Gally stared at me.

"I put a spear through your chest." "Yeah? Well when you love someone you'll do anything for them. And no one's perfect man." He patted Minho's shoulder before coming over to me and helping.

We stopped moving when we heard an explosion I looked over gasping, the buildings were on fire.

"We're supposed to take down WICKED not the whole damn city" Gally said.

The sirens went off I looked at Newt, and then Gally "Gally it's okay. Come on" I said taking his hand and having him follow us.

Newt leaned onto me, I struggled carrying him but Thomas helped.

"Brings back memories huh Thomas?" I laughed. He smiled a bit "yeah." He frowned.

"Tunnels are right up ahead" Gally said we followed him.

"Shit" Gally said. I looked seeing more guards.

"Hey, hey stay low, stay low!"  Gally orders.

We bent down trying to almost crawl while walking.

Thomas and I gently set Newt down.

"Shit" Thomas said seeing more guards.

"Get ready!" A man yelled.

"Damn it" Gally commented "what?" I asked "there's too many blocking our path."

"What are they waiting for?" Minho asked.

A explosion happen across from us, and then another.

"What the hell?" I commented.
The guards were firing shots.

This city was going to chaos everyone was running or shooting or there was fire.

"Stay down!" Thomas said I covered Newts head feeling Gally cover mine.

Thomas also covered us the best he could.

I heard another explosion soon feeling ringing in my ears everything around me felt faint.

"We gotta go we gotta go! McKenna come on!" Thomas yelled.

I helped Newt the best I could running with them.

I couldn't hear anything besides ringing, my heart was beating fast with adrenaline.

Explosions went left and right, as did gunshots.
"Brenda are you there?!" Thomas calls.
"Thomas I'm here" I looked at Gally squeezing his hand with tears threatening to spill.

We were going to die. I knew that I had a feeling.
