Alethea's POV:

We entered the gates of Alfea, making our way back to the dorm. The crisp night air felt like a welcome relief, though my mind was still buzzing, replaying scenes from the horror movie we'd just watched together. I couldn't shake the tension coiling in my stomach, my heart still racing from the fear.

"Well, that was intense, huh?" I nudged Stella with a nervous smile, my words shaky but trying to make light of it.

Stella shivered, nodding quickly in agreement. "That was such a freaky movie!" She grimaced, clearly still feeling the effects.

"At least it had a happy ending." Tecna offered, her voice calm but with a hint of reassurance that made me feel slightly better, though the unease still lingered like a cloud overhead.

"Yeah," Bloom added with a grin, her bright teeth shining in the dim light. Her energy was contagious, and despite my nerves, I couldn't help but smile. "Nothing brings a family together like fighting an evil demon, dodging zombies, running from explosions, and surviving a massive tidal wave!"

"And yet my parents are still separated." Stella chuckled, but there was an edge to her voice, a forced lightness that didn't reach her eyes. My smile faltered as I watched her, knowing full well how fractured her family was. I remembered the picnic she had planned, hoping to reunite her parents, but it ended in disaster, as everything seemed to do when it came to them. Stella's defense mechanism was humor, covering up her pain with jokes, though I could see right through it.

"That movie scared me." Flora huffed, her voice slightly higher than usual, as we entered the school building. We walked down the hall toward our dorm, the silence between us thick with the aftereffects of the film. "Can we please stop talking about it?"

"Hey, remember that scene when she was locked in the chamber with that slimy ghost thing?" Bloom, despite Flora's plea, asked, a spark of excitement in her voice as she relived the scene.

"Bloom!" Flora snapped, her tone sharp, and Bloom quickly apologized, looking sheepish.

"Hold on!" Tecna suddenly called out, her voice cutting through the chatter, and we all paused in sync, confusion flickering between us. She narrowed her eyes, scanning the dark hall. "Did anyone hear that growling sound?"

"It was probably Kiko's stomach," Bloom said with a laugh, gesturing to her pet, who looked like he was about to hurl from all the gummy bugs he'd devoured. I shivered in response, the lingering fear from the movie making me more jumpy than usual. I quickly shook it off. We were all still on edge.

"Suuuure, it was Kiko who ate all the candy," Musa teased, her voice light as she nudged Bloom. Bloom burst out laughing, clearly relieved to have something else to focus on.
